Le Mans Ultimate: Portimão and Toyota Gameplay Showcased

Le Mans Ultimate - Portimão and Toyota Gameplay Showcased RD.jpg
Both the Toyota GR010 Hypercar and Portimão’s Algarve International Circuit have been showcased in more detail for Le Mans Ultimate.

As we edge ever closer to the impending launch of Le Mans Ultimate – the official game of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship – further gameplay footage has been published.

You can discuss Le Mans Ultimate in our new dedicated forum area.

Following stills of the Vanwall and footage of the Ferrari 499P powering around Monza, next up is the reigning WEC title-winning vehicle, the Toyota GR010 at Fuji Speedway the Algarve International Circuit near Portimão.

The Japanese car has been shown for the title previously, but only very briefly during the February release date trailer.

Now we can hear the combination of the twin-turbo V6 and hybrid system in action for the first time within this particular sim – to date, it has only officially featured within Gran Turismo 7. Much like the prior Prancing Horse example, you’d be hard-pressed to hear the difference between this and an on-board video from the real world.

The new footage allows us to further view the exterior of the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, which appears to have been recreated in exacting detail. However, of note in this footage, there are zero interior shots – all footage from onboard the vehicle is via a bumper-mounted camera angle.

Similarly, the venue has been seen previously, however only as still work-in-progress images with visible wireframes.

Toyota GR010 in Le Mans Ultimate

A new track for the Le Mans Ultimate – when compared to developer Studio 397’s venerable rFactor 2 platform – progress on its creation is welcome.

The entire calendar for the 2023 WEC season is scheduled for inclusion, with Sebring, Bahrain, and Fuji yet to be shown within LMU. Likewise, the Glickenhaus SCG007s, Cadillac V-Series.R and every GTE apart from the Ferrari are currently missing in-engine debuts.

Under the stewardship of Motorsport Games, Le Mans Ultimate is set for a release on PC via Steam on 20th February. It is expected to feature an asynchronous multiplayer mode alongside a derivation of the RaceControl online ranking system debuted within rFactor 2 last year.

Not to say im very interested in this sim but, Can't believe they've released that as the trailer, those who know RF2's (not particularly detailed visual damage system) can see that in most of the shots the cars front end has had damage! For those not used to RF2 its hard to see because all you really get in terms of pannel damage is this slightly crinkley texture effect, like used tin foil, but its there in most of the shots. Why would they do that?

perhaps to 'show' the damage system?(beside Portimao and the Toyota.) I just looked again, and really didn't see any damage. (trust me, I've years of banging all the rF2 cars to death)
My 'concern' is that we have heard hybrid noises, but not seen any in-car use of the system.(I know that would be really hard to show just with in game footage) Have we seen the instant start electric motor take-off from the pits? Lots of gameplay yet to be revealed in the next month.

I think that's the new dirt texture, not the damage texture. Although it looks similar to RF2's damage one

Been waiting for this! Graphically not he most appealing trailer. But we know how the graphics most likely will be. Hopefully some new GPU options will be added like DLSS and DSR. Although I doubt it for the first release (if ever).

Pro's for me:
- Seeing that GR010 LMH in action with its hybrid system whistling on top of that engine sound makes me a tiny bit happy to be honest :)
- Having the 2023 grid available, which allows us to play with the, now historical, GTE and LMP2 classes
- Glickenhaus SCG007s . She may not be the fastest but I'm sure going to play a lot with the most beautiful car of the past years :inlove:

Cons:
- Probably plenty but that's something for after the release :D

Can we hear & see more about the career mode, ISI motor engine powered sims are not good for career mode, the last one was GT Legends and would love to see more than one car on track.

I don't expect this sim to be failure, on the opposite, rFactor 2 engine is most advanced but to be really upgrade it needs:
1.Better visuals and viaual damage on the car. From what I saw it looks exactly like maxed rFactor 2 with better sky and clouds.
2.Improved performance. We can't run big grids and simulate endurance races with the performance issues of rFactor 2.
3.Fix for the popping objects and shadows.. I turn shadows off becouse with shadows all looks very bad.
I don't expect on 20th February to have full featured package, I guess that more of the stuff will be released through the year along side fixing bugs.

I don't like that clip. Looks not really shiny, rather outdated. I'd like to see a clip, full grid and the ai running.

I don't expect any upgrade on the hybrid-simulation compared to iR or AMS2 or anything special in this regard. All those things seem to be everything but easy.

This is one of my biggest concerns related to LMU. Does anybody know what lies past LMU release? What about MSG and S397? And bug fixing was also not the thing S397 was best in class (to be fair...I know todays team is mainly different than what it was over the last 8 years...).

This is how they present a game, which is supposed to be released in about one month? That's terrible. Either the game is not ready or UI designers working previously on rF2 now work as PR specialists ‍:D
if you want a trailer like for dirt 5 or Forza with crappy physics, no thanks...Here you understand it's for the driving feeling only.
