Following the Super Speed Car Pack in October and a Fast X bundle in December last year comes the Chinese Lucky Stars set.
The latest pack follows the recent format, four brand-new cars that cannot be purchased using in-game credits via the Autoshow or collected through Wheelspins.
The MG, Lynk & Co and Wuling are Chinese-native brands (with SAIC purchasing the rights to the formerly British MG brand), while the Volkswagen is an adapted design produced in China and credited with the transition from bicycles to cars for a great majority.
While we’re at it, the ‘B2’ generation Passat (also known as a Santana) was made in the East Asian nation from 1985 right through until 2013. Staggering. Today, the Volkswagen Group has 33 factories in China.
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, meanwhile, is The Red Dragon’s best-selling electric car with, wait for it, around 40bhp. Wow. The ideal companion to the Peel P50.
I suppose part of Forza Horizon 5’s appeal is collecting, tuning and customising incongruous vehicles, and with that in mind, this fits right in. Speaking of tuning, there is the ability to ramp this shopping trolley up to over 1,000bhp.
The Lynk & Co 05+ was confirmed for inclusion in the Mexican-set open-world driving game earlier in the week – although at that point, it wasn’t clear it would be paid DLC. It’s a coupe-ish crossover, with all-wheel-drive and a 2-litre turbocharged engine. In other words, it exists.
The most captivating, in our opinion, is the MG Cyberster. Think of it as an electric BMW Z4 rival, with 335bhp and capable of dispatching 0-60mph in just 4.6 seconds. Looks are subjective, but it is hard to deny its sleekness.
This premium content pack will arrive two days prior to a new Festival Playlist change, themed around the Lunar New Year.
