As the Formula One Austrian Grand Prix is approaching, the first update for F1 23 is on the grid as well: Version 1.05 has been released ahead of the race at the Red Bull Ring - here is what is included in the patch.

Two weeks after the game's official launch, F1 23 sees its first set of fixes and improvements. Players had reported several bugs and issues on the official forums, and most of them have been fixed via the update: No more incorrect finishing positions after red flags, no more Renault Driver Academy instead of the Alpine Driver Academy in Career Mode await F1 fans.

The list of fixes is complemented by "various minor fixes" and "general stability improvements", which are always welcome - as is a fix for FPS drops that some players would suffer during night races. Some players had reported getting stuck on the grid in chapter 7 of the Braking Point 2 story mode, preventing further progress - the new update should fix this.

F1 23 - v1.05 Change Log

  • Fixed an issue where Two Player Career was incorrectly using equal performance instead of realistic performance
  • Fixed an issue where Safety Car and Formation Lap were disabled in 25% short race distances
  • Fixed an issue where players could be removed from Multiplayer lobbies when interacting with some system menus
  • Fixed an issue where some players could experience FPS drops at night races
  • Fixed an issue where cars would incorrectly collide when the setting 'Collisions off for first lap only' was enabled
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash with an additional career F2 save active
  • Fixed an issue where finishing positions would be incorrect after a Red Flag
  • Fixed an issue where TrueForce was not applied for Logitech wheels on Playstation and PC
  • Fixed an issue where the car would hit a wall driving out of the 11th garage at Monaco causing damage
  • Fixed an issue where switching between 'Performance' and 'Quality' graphics modes caused FPS issues on Xbox Series X
  • Fixed an issue when an F1 World goal expires while a bonus goal is active resulting in an error message
  • Corrected the 'Renault Driver Academy' to the 'Alpine Driver Academy' in Single Player Career
  • Fixed an issue where, with certain settings enabled, the Virtual Rear View Mirror would be present when looking backwards
  • Fixed an issue where sponsors decals would not appear on race suits and helmets in My Team
  • Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck on the grid in Chapter 7 in Braking Point
  • Fixed an issue where the strategy change after damage wouldn't appear on the Voice Command display
  • General Stability Improvements
  • Various Minor Fixes

While the update fixed a number of bugs and issues, some of those that were reported are still awaiting a remedy, such as driver contracts ending before the final race of a season in My Team mode or a freeze that occurs when a player disconnects from an online session on PlayStation.

Meanwhile, more reported issues are under investigation, such as the loss of FFB when using Alt+Tab to switch out of and back into the game on PC, FFB issues that occur on multiple platforms or notably low FPS whenever smoke is present. You can view the current list of community raised-issues and their status on the official EA forums.

They did:

The game is much more stable and fixed than the previous edition !! I really enjoy the game since day one this year :)

I tried to play this game in OpenVR but there is a jtter effect any time I move my head that I could not fix. Any suggestion? Is this issue been solved by the new patch? Thanks for your help.

Even though F1 23 actually looks like a good game in comparison to F1 22, it was released with a ton of bugs just like every year...

How is the VR performance compared to last year? I struggled with some odd shakes and stutters last year, wondering if it's been improved!

I tried the game wit EA play in OPEN VR with a Pimax 8K PLUS connected to an RTX 4080. The overall experience is good but ... moving the head the image has a terrible jitter effect. I saw other users reporting the same issue but no answer from EA Team. It seems they are not interested to support VR customers.

The VR in this simarcade game is atrocious, with all the money they have they can't get out of it. Very small teams do much better than them, in all areas except perhaps the beauty of graphics on a flat screen.

The VR problem: tons of topic's on all kinds of forums: EA didn't even acknowledge it(!!)
And that was last year; this year is the same.........
