The name of the ‘second Assetto Corsa’ is believed to be ‘Evo’, following a teaser inside Competizione’s Nürburgring Nordschleife DLC.

UPDATE April 2, 2024:
A day after the ACC Nordschleife release, the new name for the highly-anticipated successor has been made official via the official Assetto Corsa X account. A post on the social media platform confirms that the new title is indeed going to be called Assetto Corsa Evo. The newsletter subscription widget now also works.

Original article April 1, 2024:

Today is the day, for April Fool’s jokes – although 505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni didn’t get the memo, as they released the 24H Nürburgring Pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione and the name for its next project.

Assetto Corsa Evo.

When driving the Nürburgring 24H layout in the new DLC, on the Grand Prix Loop on the outside of the Michelin-Kurve you will see a billboard. It displayed ‘2024’ in large font, followed by a QR code.

Scan that with your phone and you are taken to a landing page for ‘Assetto Corsa Evo’ with the tagline “driving simulation evolved.”

While Evo is believed to be the designated title for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2014 driving simulation, Kunos nor 505 Games was able to confirm at this time.

Not much else is known at this point, other than financial documents as recently as last month slating the next Assetto Corsa game for a PC early access release in Summer 2024, and prior statements confirming a console launch later.

“The new Assetto Corsa is going to follow what we did with Assetto Corsa 1,” said Executive Manager at developer Kunos Simulazioni, Marco Massarutto, to OverTake in March.

“Yet, it is not just a sequel, it is much, much, more. It’s definitely not a spin-off like Competizione.”

The countdown begins...

Wonder:unsure: if ACE will have real world vehicles eg Porsche / BMW etc or 'made up' vehicles or Tracks / Map environments much like BeamNG to save on licensing costs etc.

I think they would do themselves a MASSIVE favour by allowing backwards compatibility with AC mods as it immediately opens the sim up to a huge amount of content, with better graphics, physics etc.
This would not be better graphics or physics if they are the same mods in AC. AC does not have support for full PBR materials so if it was backwards compatible, at best it could look like CSP AC. Cars would have the same physics files. It all sounds good, but if there is modding (and I think there will be) mods will need to be updated to the new standards. Which isn't a bad thing.

EVO, EVO... Italians. So there was a "Sebastian Loeb Rally EVO"

The people saying the game must support mods or it will die make me laugh.
Yes AC has a massive userbase and a lot of it is attributable to CM and mods, but the game didn't really get huge until well after Kunos stopped support on it, so there isn't a lot of money to be made for them when a bunch of people bought AC for like $3 or got it free in a humble bundle.
ACC doesn't support mods and it is doing just fine. I don't think 505 are really targeting the guys that are only willing to spend $3 to drive open world circuits.

You haven't really been paying attention then... AC is more popular than ACC even with Nords...

It's not a case of no mods = no chance... But the majority won't be converted quickly if the idea of mods is just a non-starter...

But to Kunos to not have more success than ACC would be a failure or at the very least a step backwards in their companies growth, and the only way to guarantee that growth is to have mods...

My backlog with Kunos titles goes as follows...

netKar Pro: advanced yet questionable handling behaviours made me stay out of it.
Ferrari Virtual Academy: Overrated.
Assetto Corsa: off and on, dubious consistency of quality between their own content, came alive when CSP started to modify physics and FFB.
Assetto Corsa Competizione: a polished and well rounded title, focused on a discipline I'm not fond of in simracing, and I could never get along with its way of driving.

Bottom line: I don't gel with Kunos's games out of the box, so I hope this one is moddable.

I really hope this means that they'll bring back the modding support. It's crazy how much AC1 has evolved thanks to the mods, and they are the reason a lot of us keep on coming back.
Hopefully Kunos sees this as well. Gonna watch with excitement as we get closer to summer!

I'm watching and reading tons of reviews, gameplay videos, and feature showcases before buying when it comes out. If it doesn't have mod support and pace laps, I'll just stick to rFactor 1, 2, and maybe BeamNG.

Driving Simulation has me worried. I now have the bad feeling this is going to be more Forza Horizon than Assetto Corsa. Not a fan of road 'racing', especially fictional environments. AC fictional tracks were well done but I drove them maybe once or twice. Authentic track racing for me thanks, with race cars. No interest in driving consumer cars in a sim, I have my own :D
Many simracers would understandably love this prospect though, and KS would surely do it up right.

Speaking of paying attention, perhaps you should read more carefully. Never did I say that ACC was more popular than AC. I simply said it did very well without mods. A lot of people will be buying AC EVO, mods or not. Will it eclipse AC, I seriously doubt it but I expect it to be more successful than ACC.

As I said, AC only got larger than ACC (in it's current state) WELL AFTER support for AC ceased. The game was dirt cheap so that massive spike in player count didn't amount to much for Kunos. There are going to be people who don't leave AC for AC EVO or any sim for that matter and modding doesn't guarantee success. ACC, iracing and the F1 games from EA aren't moddable and they are all very successful. As to your point about it not being a case of no mods = no chance.... I am literally addressing the very people saying exactly that AC EVO will die without mods. If moddability is so important I guess the "Last Garage" game coming out should be the most popular game ever. I bet it won't though.

This line of thinking is why there's a big "If it has mods it'll be successful" brigade...

In the original AC street cars were almost as common as race cars...

As long as modding is available that won't be a problem and the game will have a chance at being the leading sim during the coming golden age of sim racing... Instead of trailing it's predecessors...

You missed Hydrofoil Generation. Not exactly a Kunos game... but a Kunos game :)
I much prefer it to ACC - even if it doesn't have anything to do with cars. That said, I did have to mod even that one a little to enjoy it more.

There is already a ton of "proper racing" titles. There is also quite a few arcade "driving" ones. But if you dig deeper into what a large part of the AC community is trying to make out of it, you'll see that people actually like the idea of having top-notch simulated vehicular dynamics on public roads while navigating them in street cars. Why does IoM TT even exist if, as you say, people only want closed circuits and "proper racing"? Ok, that's bikes and not cars, but the logic still applies. The popularity of The Ring also speaks for itself...

You have A street car? Good for you. But are you Jay Leno? You can't possibly have all the cars you might fancy driving in real life, can you? And that's what makes driving sims shine - you can simply enjoy a ride in a rare Alfa on Targa Florio, for example. Or you can take a 70s racing monster there instead and do some "proper racing" whenever you feel that way. Flexibility is great! I'd even go as far as saying that Kunos should include proper bike support too. After all, Stefano did toy with the idea for a while...

Popular doesn't equal revenu.... The later is what you pay the salaries with.
