BeamNG Updated to Version 0.26

BeamNG has been updated to version 0.26, bringing significant updates to the Ibishu Covet plus map updates and new missions.

The Early Access phase of BeamNG continues, with the driving simulator now moving to version 0.26. While this update isn't massive, it does bring improvements to multiple aspects of the title.

Popular among BeamNG players, the fictional Ibishu Covet has received a revamped 3D model, reworked textures, design improvements and structural tweaks. Multiple versions of the car are included, and the Covet now features openable doors, hood and trunk, a functional odometer, and an animated manual shifter and many other changes.

Players can now also optionally enjoy motion blur, which should result in a better sense of speed.

BeamNG has earned a following thanks largely to its soft-body physics model, which has resulted in countless popular videos on YouTube featuring spectacular crashes and mangled vehicles.

Let us know in the comments below if your favourite things to do in BeamNG, and whether you're enjoying the improved Covet.

Am I the only one that sort of cringes whenever a BeamNG update appears? The entire game and its updates seem to be constructed from a gazillion tiny little files that makes just feel like it takes f….o….r….e….v….e….r to update compared to similar sized updates for other game titles.

About 6 months per "major" update, however if you consider them major or not really depends on you.

I think it's due to the way they made the game highly moddable: all assets are separated in multiple files because you can then reuse them in the world editor - and the soon-to-come vehicle editor to make quite complex maps with no 3d modelling skills.

Meh, as long as it's updating in steam and not in-game I don't care. I found it much more frustrating waiting on a loading screen in rF2 for all the mods to download/update.

It being a PC it's run on, there's other things to do to kill a few minutes :)

Not using beamng (yet), but curious about what mod are available. I could not find any download for beamng in the RD downloads section.
Also curious, since I exclusively sim in VR, if some user could share how VR is compared to the usual suspects (AMS2, AC, etc...), it would be instructive.

instead of having to rely on some random site to be their mod platform, the beamng site has their own mod repository section that supports cloud-carrying the mod lists that you like when you reinstall the game, and automatic mod updates. There's also their mod forum that lets you manually download mods there that wouldn't be accepted into the mod repository (like real vehicles or mods that use stolen assets)

VR, Throw as much expensive hardware at it as you can.

I really enjoy the VR experience, Though the bad things in the game are even worse.

But still very much worth the purchase price.
