Assetto Corsa Competizione’s Nordschleife Set For 1st April Release

The Season 2024 DLC pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione now has a release date, as revealed by parent company Digital Bros.

For years, fans of Assetto Corsa Competizione have been campaigning for the Nürburgring Nordschleife to be included in the official GT World Challenge simulation – and now it seems that the interminable wait will be over sooner rather than later.

News first broke in July 2023, when motorsport series organiser SRO agreed a deal with the 24 Hours of Nürburgring to include the venerated event within the 2024 Intercontinental GT Challenge.

That then opened the door for sim developer Kunos Simulazioni to add the ‘Green Hell’ to the platform – which was not possible previously with the content being intrinsically linked to SRO-backed championships. Development of the 24-hour layout was confirmed in November 2023.

Today, 13th Match 2024, a release date for the content has been announced – 1st April 2024.

We certainly hope this is not some kind of intricate April Fool’s joke, but the financial results covering the first half of the fiscal year 2023-2024 for parent company Digital Bros reveal all:

“The Group’s release schedule for the second half of this fiscal year includes; the launch of the Season 2024 pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione on April 1st, 2024. The official video game for the Fanatec GT World Challenge championship will feature the iconic Nürburgring Nordscheifle [sic] circuit for the first time.”

The report also noted strong revenue generated from the entire Assetto Corsa franchise, including game and DLC sales across PC and console:

“…Outstanding performance of the different versions of Assetto Corsa. The franchise developed by the fully owned studio Kunos Simulazioni generated Euro 12.2 million revenue in the reporting period.”

That leaves just over two weeks until PC players, at least, can experience the ‘full’ ‘Ring within Assetto Corsa Competizione. However, additional content, such as cars and liveries, included in the ‘Season 2024’ pack remains unconfirmed.

Update, 14th March 10 am UTC

The formal name of the DLC has now been confirmed, entitled ‘Nürburgring 24H Pack DLC’, in contrast to the ‘Season 2024 pack’ originally touted.

A PC-first release is now also locked in.

Because the other bullet points relate to different games.
So we will get Season 2024 pack AND "official video featuring Nordschleife"?
Must be a slow day at Digital Bros if they put "video" into financial report. :D

Financial report does say 'video game', not just 'video'... ;)
I really hope I'm wrong and we do get Nords next month... really this is just my way of tempering my expectations so I'm not totally let down if Nords doesn't come with the April release

It's a surprise to be honest, in previous interviews they were saying Nords is expected for a summer release. I assume the 2024 Season update will be mostly the liveries, like they did it with the previous seasons.
I also wander what else is in store. The prologue event for this years GTWC was held last week at Paul Ricard, and in the press photos I spotted a Mustang among the field, as well as the newly updated Aston. No Corvette however, but Corvette never really did customer racing on the level of Audi or AMG. And they will most likely focus on WEC and IMSA first. (There is one C8 in GTW America though.)
New tracks this season is Hockenheim, Magny-Course and Jeddah. Hockenheim and Magny-Course was also raced in '23 and '22, so if any more tracks will get added later this year, it's probably those two.
Not trying to sound like a spoiled child, if Nordschleife is the last content update, I'm still happy.

Assuming the news is correct, my brainstormed scenario would be this:
  • Kunos facing delays with data / building the Mustang & the Corvette
  • given that the Nordschleife has been in a near-finished state for a few months already
  • perhaps Kunos decided to split the planned pack into 2 seperate DLCs
  • thus releasing Nords a bit earlier and then the 2 cars a little later towards the end of summer perhaps

Advantages:
  • possibly double the cash
  • a later date for a last DLC would mean a later release date for AC2, thus more time to work on that as well

I totally forgot about this news:
Ford Performance & Dinamic Confirm Mustang GT3 Programme Canned

I bet 10 bucks this is the reason for the delay with the cars and thus Kunos made the decision to release the track as a separate DLC now and then round out the game in its entirety at a later stage with the 2024 season pack including the liveries as well as all 3 new cars. (3 cos I also forgot about the new Aston Evo previously :whistling:)

What news are you talking about? There hasn't been anything official saying that Nordschleife is a separate DLC. Nor has there been anything saying that they are making new cars in the first place. Them announcing the release date now leaves them a couple weeks to do their typical once a week reveals.

  • The Nordschleife was initially announced to be released after the N24 race this spring via another Digi Bros presser late last year.
  • Yes, nothing official in regards to 2024 cars but obviously a 2024 seasonal update has been announced and if you are not toally new to this hobby, then you know how Kunos works and we all know we'll get new cars along that update which is then most likely the final content update for ACC.
