You'll need to follow instructions on using pssg tools from http://www.rallygamer.com/dirtrally/tools/texture-design-tools.html to get your liveries into the PSSG file and in the game, but this should make painting them a lot less guess work!
This is sized 4096x4096 for high resolution textures, but you may need to reduce to 2048x2048 or 1024x1024 depending on your system specs.
