I have test-driven many 'vehicle' mods for rfactor. The overwhelming majority of car mods that I test drive, I end up discarding as -in one way or another- they are either significantly or slightly too flawed for my impeccable judgment.
That being said, I am not a perfectionist in anything -- I am always fair but have high expectations simultaneously, in regards as to whether a mod is a 'keeper' for me.
This 1988 Formula 1 Endor mod is BY FAR the best and most realistic rfactor Formula 1 that I have test driven so far:
These vehicles look absolutely superb inside and out. The cockpits are the most highly-rendered I have yet seen. The drivers position in the cockpit is absolutely perfect. The engine sounds are great.
This is one of the very very few mods I have so far tested in which the drivers hands and arms are visible on the steering wheel also making this mod that much better looking than most others.
The physics are ABSOLUTELY SUPERB: This is the first rfactor F1 mod that I have tested in which I would swear I was actually driving an F1 vehicle in real life. Using the keyboard, the steering is absolutely fluid and the tires feel and react unbelievably realistically. The acceleration, braking, and cornering of these '88 F1 vehicles is surprisingly good; seems ahead of its era.
The only downside is that with traction control and stability assist settings on maximum -- these vehicles are either barely 'do-able' or barely not 'do-able' around a given race track:
I enjoy having my keyboard driving skills pushed to the absolute max and being punished when I don't take a turn nearly perfect which results in my car spinning out, etc. That being said, my driving skills are pushed to beyond extremes with this mod -for the better and worse...
