During the 1990s, Callaway took their tuned Corvettes to racing circuits all over the world making use of GT2 regulations using the base of a Corvette C4 under the name of Callaway Corvette LM-GT2.

During the 1997 24h of Le Mans, Agusta Racing Team, team owned by the grandson of MV Agusta's founder, "Rocky" Agusta, took part in the race with one of Callaway's LM-GT2, the only Corvette which would took part in the race. The car, driven by Rocky Agusta, Almo Cappelli and Eric Graham qualified into 43rd place out of 52 cars overall and into 7th place on the GT2 category. The race itself didn't go so well for the team, as they had to retire to an ignition failure.

The car, in its 1997 24h configuration, was featured on the 1999 PS1 and PC 24h of Le Mans videogame by Eutechnyx and Infogrames as one of the starters on the GT2 category.

Sadly for Callaway, the LM-GT2 was at the very end of its life cycle by 1997, being that year's Le Mans races the last major international event entered by Callaway. The car was a strong contender when it comes to qualifying, but accidents and mechanical failures usually plagued the car. Despite this, both Callaway Competiton and Agusta Racing campaigned the car during 4 seasons to relatively some success.

Now onto the skin itself: After spending too much time as a kid playing the Le Mans PS1 game and growing attached to late 90s GTs and LMPs, I thought it was time for the Agusta Racing Team Callaway to receive a modern treatment, using the Chevrolet Corvette C7R as a base. I tried to make it as close to the real car as possible, but I had to take some licenses. I expected it to be an easy task, as the car is basically a plain black with some stickers over it. Despite its simple looks, there is almost no photage of the car during the event, left apart medium to high quality photos. On to of that, apart from that, many sponsor logos had to be made from scratch, but I tried to re-create them as close to the real ones as possible.

I really like the final result and how well the livery fits the C7 Corvette. In the future, I will try to convert it to Project CARS and rFactor 2 (probably using the Callaway Corvette for it)

I hope you like it as much as I do.
