The Crew Motorfest Adds Hollywood-Themed Playlist, Free Weekend

Season 3 is a significant update for The Crew Motorfest, with quality-of-life changes and new cars alongside a fresh playlist of events.

Fresh events and cars will be available within The Crew Motorfest later today, 13th March 2024, thanks to the addition of Season 3 – Hollywood Action.

Ubisoft Ivory Tower’s open-world accessible racing game launched last year, set on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu

Structurally, the main single-player experience is broken down into two key areas: Playlists and the Main Stage.

Hollywood Action Playlist

Playlists are a series of themed events, with specific vehicles combined with relevant challenges, all wrapped up with matching cut scenes. Prior playlist additions include drifting and American media outlet Hoonigan.

The new third season will see you take part in movie-esque sequences, either staying within the videographer’s camera lens or destroying objects. This will be for a movie entitled ‘Hi-Ride’ and under the supervision of director ‘Rick Martinez’.

In total, it equates to nine new main events, one reward, 25 challenges and 15 side activities.

As part of the action, players will get to experience the new-to-Motorfest Aston Martin DB5, Aston Martin DBS (2022), Mini Cooper S (1968) and the fictional Ivory Tower Aezus hypercar.

In the trailer, it looks as if the Honda Integra Type R (DC2) and Jeep Gladiator are involved too.

The DB5 will be a reward for completing the playlist, while the Aezus will become available via the in-game store.

However, the DBS, Integra, Mini and Gladiator – for use outside of the playlist – are part of the Year 1 Pass owners – an optional paid-for extra that provides a mix of exclusive or early-access vehicles. More on the cars, below…

Content-Creator Main Stage

The Main Stage sees a rolling set of leaderboard-based challenges and rewards to unlock.

For Season 3 of this area, which runs from April until June, each new set will be based around an automotive content creator, with an additional reward for reaching a target in the live summit format.

Racing game YouTuber BlackPanthaa and Twitch streamer Stereonline are first, followed by Formula Drift champion and Nissan advocate Chris Forsberg and lastly car modifier That Dude In Blue and supercar fan Shmee150. There will also be a BlackPanthaa Edition modified Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) up for grabs.

These events are typically ephemeral, although a new ‘Legacy Main Stage’ feature will see past events return.

New And Returning Cars

Right, this is confusing, so bear with us.

As we’ve already mentioned, those who own the Year 1 Pass will pick up the aforementioned DBS, Mini, Integra and Gladiator across March and April. They will also receive the Lotus Emira and W Motors Lykan Hypersport in June and some Forsberg-tuned Nissan drift cars in May:

  • Ivory Tower Aezus (2024 fictional) – 13th March

Nearly done, there are also vehicles that can be obtained as rewards:

  • Ivory Tower Aezus Stealth Edition (2024 fictional) 27th March, Summit Contest Reward

It should be noted that there are also set to be further ‘surprise’ roster additions between now and June’s Season 4 update.

Platform Changes

Alongside the glut of new content, there are some fundamental changes to how Motorfest operates too.

Chief of which is now being able to select multiple unlocked car parts to scrap for scrap points. These in turn can be used the change reward modifiers on car parts, but previously you had to scrap each individually.

The garage area can now be sorted by vehicle class, as opposed to just an alphabetical list, too.

Further steering settings will be added, a direct mode will allow sensitivity and dynamic max lock to be adjusted via two new sliders. When viewing the map, additional filters are set to be included.

The full changelog is listed below, which also includes claimed stability improvements when playing co-operatively, removal of a PC bug that caused the game to crash when taking a picture, 3D audio support for PlayStation 5 and new Grand Race (online multiplayer) sections.

Free Weekend

For those not familiar with the colourful open-world driving game, there is a free weekend too.

Between 14th March (6 pm UTC) to 18th March (12 pm UTC) you can download and play the full game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Ubisoft Store or Epic Games Store).

Fixed continuous camera rotation when using Fanatec CSL DD Base

Nice! I reported this (as others did too of course) but it never got a response. Their "support" kept wanting to close the ticket even though there was no resolution. At least it got fixed in the end (hopefully).

It was due to the clutch paddles getting mapped as -100/+100 so you'd have to hold the paddles at the halfway point to prevent constant spinning/scrolling.

I found this game disappointing due to the lack of "road feel", no connection from the road to my wheel and it doesn't work with my g-seat. For this type of entertainment it's still FH5 for me.
