Question about Single player Endurance race

Just got ACC, incidently playing on Asus Rog Ally hooked up to monitor and wheel.

In 3 hour Endurance race, three drivers are shown to need 1hr 10min driving time, but the race is only 3 hours.

What am I missing here?

Also, do people turn on mandatory pit stops or not .. most concerned with what's best for AI to behave correctly in long races.

It's not a minimum time, but it's a maximum time instead. In this case, each driver can only drive up to 70 minutes in total, so you need to do 2 driver swaps.

Enabling mandatory pit stops is up to you. Keep in mind that in longer races you'll need to refuel anyway.
