Hi all,

This thread will be where we will discuss the Z1 Software, post about new releases, and answer any questions you may have about the Z1 Software.

The Z1 Software is comprised of several applications:

Z1 Dashboard - This is the application used by thousands of sim racers to display information during their race. This is done using various car dashboards, track maps, standings, timing & scoring, and other types of dashboards. The Dashboard is there to help you do as well as you possible can during the race, providing not just information about what your car is doing, but where your competitors are, when to pit, how much fuel to take on, and many other race tactics.

Z1 Designer - This is our newest application which lets you create your own dashboards for use with the Z1 Dashboard.

Z1 Analyzer - This is our telemetry analysis application. It is aimed at improving the most important part of the car - you the driver! There are many telemetry programs out there that simply show you lots of complicated looking graphs and numbers. They then leave it up to you to figure out what it all means. The Z1 Analyzer gives you easy to understand explanations on where you are losing and gaining time and advice on how you can improve your driving. In addition to the various analysis screens, you can also view standard traces scatter plots and histograms. Compare yourself to thousands of other laps to see where you can improve.

The Z1 Software is currently compatible with the following sims:
ARCA Sim racing
Assetto Corsa
Assetto Corsa Competizione
Automobilista
Automobilista 2
Codemasters F1 2015-2020
Dirt Rally2
Game Stock Car
iRacing
Kart Racing Pro
Project Cars 1-3
RaceRoom
rFactor 1 & 2

* ACC GT3-2021 and Challengers Pack-2022 cars have been added.

Existing users can download the update here:
https://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/MyDashboard.cfm

New users can get the demo here:
https://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm

Full list of release notes:
* Data logging will now track whether or not the lap was a valid lap. This will allow the Analyzer to display information on valid or invalid laps. (Note not all sims support this. Currently only iRacing, ACC & RaceRoom.)

* Added support for ACC GT3-2021 and Challengers Pack-2022 cars.

* As we continue our move towards improved dashboard designs, using the Z1 Designer, the legacy dashboards will start to be removed from the Z1 Dashboard. This will not be done until we have designed their replacement in the Z1 Designer. As of this version the Z1 Dashboard will check to see if there is a replacement available. If there is it will be downloaded automatically and will replace the legacy dashboard in the Z1 Dashboard. Any other settings you have specified (LEDs, etc) will not be changed. If you do not want this to happen automatically you can turn the feature off by unchecking the 'Auto Update Dashboards' option near the bottom of the General settings tab. Note if you turn this off then legacy dashboards that have been discontinued will be replaced with the Generic dashboard until you manually update them.

* The Settings dialog for the Z1 Server has been completely updated to the new look and feel.

* The Z1 Server now supports keyboard input as well as joystick buttons.

* The Z1 Server now supports the Z1 Analyzer pre-scan functionality, making it easier than ever to use the Z1 Server as a light weight data logger.

* The track maps for iRacing in the Z1 Dashboard are now created using the Mercator projection method. We will update the old ones over time.

* The pit lane creation process in the Z1 Dashboard iRacing track maps has been improved to display the pit lane entrances and exits more accurately.

* The Internet Data Stream Connection Dialog has been updated to the latest look and feel.

* The way in which track maps are created has been updated. This lets us better know the orientation of the map in the world. We recommend you delete all track maps created with previous versions. These are located in documents/z1dashboard/<sim>/tracks.

* You can now rotate a track map when not in the car. This is the preferred way of adjusting the orientation of track maps moving forward. To do so select the 'Track Map' option from the garage menus. Then use the circle to rotate the track map to the desired orientation and click the 'Save' icon.

* If you want to delete a track map and recreate it, click the 'Delete' icon in the Track Map garage menu screen.

* There is now a settings to turn Live Car Positions on or off when using iRacing. As iRacing only updates car positions when they cross the S/F line we need to do some calculations in order to get position data more frequently. This option is on by default. If you'd like to only update the car position data when the cars cross the S/F line then turn this option off. It is located at the bottom of the General settings tab. If you are using the Z1 Server you should make the selection in the Z1 Server settings.

* When registering you can now use the keyboard shortcut CTRL-V to paste your order number into the order number text field, assuming you have previously copied it from another location using the standard Windows copy (CTRL-C) command.

20222-ToolBar.jpg

The Z1 Designer can be downloaded here:
https://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm

Here is the full list of release notes:
* Added new tool: Gauge tool. This lets you create analogue gauges. There are tons of features on this tool. Stay tuned for the video explaining them all.

* New Needle Editor. This is where you can create needles that will be used with your gauges. A single needle can be used multiple times in as many different gauges as you like. The Z1 Designer comes with 11 example needles. You can use these in your own designs as is, or you can use them to create your own needles. Or you can create needle designs from scratch.

* The Needle Editor is located under Edit->New Needle.

* To see the list of existing needles look under Edit->Edit Needles.

* You can now rotate the following items: text, conditional text, rectangles, rounded rectangles, and units. To do so you can enter the desired rotation into the Rotation Angle text field in the object properties window. Alternatively you can select the item in the Dashboard window and then drag the handle for the rotation.

* You can now specify an outline for units, text and conditional text objects.

* Added unit specific data channels for Speed, Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Water Pressure, Water Temperature and Fuel Pressure. These are intended to be used when creating gauges. But of course you can use them in any object that used data channels. For example there is now 'Speed', 'Speed KPH' and 'Speed MPH'. The 'Speed' data channel will display speed in whatever units the end user has selected. 'Speed KPH' will always display speed in KPH. And 'Speed MPH' will always display speed in MPH.

* There is now a scrollbar that will appear in the Tool Bar window if the window is not big enough to display all tools.

Full list of release notes:
* Redesigned Open Lap dialog to bring it up to the current design standards.

* There is a new option under the Recorded Telemetry settings tab: Reset Filters. This is on by default. When selected the car and driver filters will be cleared when you select a new sim or track in the Open Lap dialog.

* If laps were pre-scanned in the Dashboard, the Analyzer will now ask if you'd like to open them when it starts up. If you choose to open them you will be taken to the Open lap dialog where the laps will be displayed, allowing you to choose which ones you'd like to open. This feature can be turned off by unchecking the 'Check For Pre-Scanned Laps On Startup' option in the Recorded Telemetry settings tab.

* The various edit list dialogs have been updated to the new look and feel.

* The Open Layout and Save Layout dialogs have been tweaked to bring them inline with the updated edit dialogs.

* The Custom Channel Dialog has been updated to the new look and feel.

* The Histogram Dialog has been updated to the new look and feel. It also includes a preview feature, allowing you to see what your histogram will look like as you create it.

* The Scatter Plot Dialog has been updated to the new look and feel. It also includes a preview feature, allowing you to see what your scatter plot will look like as you create it.

* The Custom Trace Dialog has been updated to the new look and feel. It also includes a preview feature, allowing you to see what your trace will look like as you create it.

* The Math Channel Dialog has been updated to the new look and feel. It also includes a preview feature, allowing you to see what your math channel will look like if you display it as a custom trace.

* You can now customize the background color of the rectangle that surrounds the current cursor value in the traces. This is available under the Screen Colors tab, Trace Lines and Text Colors section. Look for the Data Line Background color swatch.

* You can now choose whether or not you want the cursor values to be displayed on the traces next to the data line. You can turn this option on and off under the Recorded Telemetry tab in the settings dialog. It is on by default.

* Derivatives are now supported in Math Channels. You can create a derivative of any data channel by clicking the 'Der' button in the Math Channel dialog. You'll get a formula like 'Derivative([LF Shock Deflection]). This allows you to create velocity channels for sims that do not support them, such as ACC. To display this, or any other Math Channel in a trace you would create a Custom Trace which displayed the Math Channel.

* After using the Edit dialog to open a custom channel, custom trace, math channel, scatter plot or histogram, closing the associated dialog will return you to the previous edit dialog. In prior versions the edit dialog was also closed, meaning you had to re-open the edit dialog to edit additional items.

* Math channels now have an optional units parameter. This is for your reference purposes only, and does not effect how the channel is displayed.

* The Connect To Stream dialog has been updated to bring it up-to-date with the latest look and feel.

* The Print dialog has been updated to being it up-to-date with the latest look and feel. Note printing is only available with a Pro license.

* You can now select the header image to be used when printing. This is done in the Print dialog.

* The consistency analysis has been added as an option in the Print Dialog.

* The Print dialog will now give tell you what is being printed during the print process.

* You can now clear the data line on a trace by clicking on the left side Y-Axis numbers.

* The Lap Scan dialog has been updated to the latest look and feel.

* The Import External Data dialog has been updated to the latest look and feel, and is now resizable.

* The math channel formula displayed in the Math Channel dialog is now color coded. Different colors are used to display the channels, operators, functions and numbers. You can customize these colors in the Screen Colors tab of the settings dialog.

* You can now left click on the track map in the Driving Line Analysis screen to set the current position on the track.

* There are new options in the Control settings tab that let you specify what left mouse clicks and control-left mouse clicks do in the analysis windows when clicking on the track map. By default left clicking on the track map in an analysis screen will display information about the point you clicked on. This information will vary depending on the analysis screen being displayed. The default control-left click action is to move the cursor to the clicked on point.

* There is a new option in the Open Lap dialog - Suggest Laps. This is a button just above the 'Laps From Other Drivers' section. This will search the available laps and display up to 20 laps that are slightly faster that the currently selected main lap. This makes it easier for you to find laps to compare yourself against in order to improve your lap times. Note that the suggested lap function may not always return laps. It will depend on your lap time and the available laps.

* The popup menu which is displayed in the Open Lap dialog with you right-click on the local or server laps table now includes an option to 'Clear All Filters'. This makes it easier to reset any applied filters and view the entire list of laps again.

* Added 4 default math channels. These are derivatives of the shock deflections. This allows you to view shock velocity histograms and traces, for sims that do not provide shock velocity data, like ACC.

* Added 6 default custom traces. These are Brake/Throttle, Derivative shock deflection, and derivative shock deflection for each wheel.

* Added 4 default histograms. These are Derivative Shock Deflections for the 4 corners of the car. These are in addition to the 4 standard shock velocity histograms. The derivative ones are intended for use with sims that only provide shock deflection data, such as ACC.

* The right-click popup menus on the Edit screens for Scatter Plots, Histograms, Math Channels, Custom Traces and Custom Channels have been standardized. They all provide options for creating new items, editing existing items, copying existing items and deleting existing items.

* The right-click popup menu that is displayed on the traces now includes a 'Graph By' submenu. This allows you to choose how the data in the traces is displayed. It can be either by Lap Time, Lap Percent, or Lap Distance. These are the same options as are included in the Display tab of the Settings dialog. This new placement makes it easier to select them. The selected setting is global to all traces.

* The splash screen now shows the progress of opening any laps that were opened in the Analyzer when it was last closed.

* There is a new checkbox at the top of the Open Lap dialog - Sort By Cars First. When selected this sorts the results for both local and server laps by the car name first. This option is also available in the settings dialog and the right click popup menu.

* Search results for the Laps From Other Drivers in the Open Lap Dialog are no longer returned in one large set of results. This is due to the very large number of laps available for each sim and track. By default 250 will be returned at a time. You can adjust this to either 500 or 1,000 by using the right click popup menu on the Laps From Other Drivers section, or in the settings dialog. When you scroll down to the bottom of the results, additional laps will be loaded if available. This makes for a more responsive interface.

* When registering you can now use the keyboard shortcut CTRL-V to paste your order number into the order number text field, assuming you have previously copied it from another location using the standard Windows copy (CTRL-C) command.

Math Channels are a very powerful telemetry tool. They let you create calculated values from other existing channels. This could be something as simple as flipping a value from negative to positive, or something more complex like getting the derivative of a channel to determine its acceleration, or combining multiple channels such as ride heights to get the rake of the car at any given point.
The Z1 Analyzer supports all this and makes it easy to create and view Math Channels. For anyone interesting in car telemetry either in the sim or real world, this is a must see.

This video explains all that and shows how to create some sample math channels.

The Z1 Analyzer lets you import data from external sources, allowing you to view real world track day or race data within the Analyzer. You can then compare it to other laps from the real world, or even from sims. Your data source may be Motec, Aim, Harry's Lap Timer, RaceChrono, or any other data logger than can provide its data in a CSV file format.

Importing is very easy - what this video to see how.

F1 22 is now supported. In addition there have been many ease of use improvements.

New users can download the demo here:
https://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/demo.cfm

Existing users can get the update here:
https://z1simwheel.com/dashboard/MyDashboard.cfm

Full list of release notes:
* Arduino LEDs are now supported. You will need to run the Z1 Arduino LED setup app to load the Arduino sketch on to your Arduino device. You can download this setup app from within the Z1 Dashboard Arduino settings tab. Once you run the setup app and configure your device you will see it available within the Z1 Dashboard Arduino settings tab. The Dashboard will automatically recognize the device and display its settings for you.

Each device can have multiple profiles. These profiles are all setup within the Dashboard's Arduino settings tab. You can specify which LEDs are associated with shift lights, and which ones are associated with the left and right warning lights.

Just like any other device, you specify when the LEDs illuminate on a car-by-car basis using the Shift Lights and Warning Lights settings tabs.

* Added a simplified setup dialog that will run the first time you run the Z1 Dashboard. This helps guide new users with setting up certain key features of the Dashboard.

* The 'Amount Units', 'Show Fuel As', and 'Gallon Size' settings have been replaced.

* The 'Amount Units' setting from the General tab has been replaced with 'Fluid Units'. This controls how fluids, such as water level or oil level are displayed.

* The way in which fuel levels are displayed has been simplified. There is now an option on the General tab called 'Fuel Units'. This has the options of liters, kilograms, US gallons, UK gallons, or pounds. This is a global setting for how fuel is displayed.

* You can customized the way in which fuel is displayed for a specific car by going to the Car tab and looking for the 'Show Fuel As' option. This option has the following options: liters, kilograms, US gallons, UK gallons, pounds, and inherited. If you choose inherited, then the global setting will be used. Choosing any other option will override the global option with the selected format when running this car.

* Fuel settings from previous versions of the software will be preserved and translated to fit the new list of options.

* Updates to the settings dialog to clarify the function of certain settings.

* If you have registered the Z1 Dashboard using the Z1 Server option, then the Z1 Dashboard will only connect to the Z1 Server. Previously it could connect directly to a sim even if you had the Z1 Server registration option selected, which could cause registration issues.

* There is a new setting in the Shift Light settings tab: External LEDs override dashboard LEDs. When this setting is turned on and you have external LEDs connected to the Z1 Dashboard, any shift light LEDs in dashboards created in the Z1 Designer will be hidden. In addition the LED setup display in the Shift Light settings tab will reflect the number of shift light LEDs on your external device instead of the number of shift lights on the first dashboard. This option is turned on by default.

* The left and right warning LEDs can now be assigned to illuminate when the rev limiter is engaged, or the shift point RPM is reached.

* Codemasters F1 22 support.

* Added driver name formatting options of 'Last Name, First Initial', and 'Last Name Only' to the existing options of 'First Name Last Name' and 'Last Name, First Name'. This option is set in the Display settings tab. It is used whenever the driver name is displayed, in places like track maps or standings, etc.

* Edit Mode has been deprecated.
