About as Tilke-dromey as it gets. With more 90 degree corners than you can poke a stick at this place only has 2 corners that put a Formula One car through its paces, turns 2 and 3. It's pretty much a turd with lights.

It's quite a low deg circuit, so the option tyre lasts quite well, which makes it a feasible race tyre. So the optimal strategy is either a 1 stop (option, prime) or a two stop (option, option, prime).
  • It's a track that rewards late braking, so having the brake bias more towards the front is helpful for a good lap.
  • Traction out of turns 9, 13 and 20 is crucial.
  • I believe I've found a good compromise between downforce, and straight line speed and gearing with this setup.

This setup should allow for around 17-21 laps from a set of fresh options, and 25-31 laps from a set of fresh primes.

Without ABS the fronts totally lock up before even getting into 2nd gear. Theres a reason every quick setup has brake bias about 2 clicks rear lol.

You're obviously not braking properly then.

Real F1 cars run around 55-60% front bias. This is because when you brake heavily in a straight line (Abu Dhabi has 3 heavy braking zones), the weight of the car is transferred onto the front wheels, meaning more of the braking needs to be done from the front. So setting the brake bias to the front gives the best results (shortest braking distance).

Also, as mentioned in the large bolded font at the top, this is a race setup, not a qualifying or TT setup. It's not designed to be insanely quick over one lap. It's designed to give you lasting performance in a race of 100% distance.
People who set their bias to like 48F-52R won't get as good results.

The only track which requires anything near 50-50 bias is Monaco (51F-49R).

I know full well REAL F1 cars run front bias, however in these games that almost never works. All the other setups must be wrong.

No but the fact that your locking up in second gear means that you're not braking properly. You're supposed to release the pressure the slower you go. Are you on a keyboard or gamepad?

Having the front bias in my setup is only conducive to front locking when turning, and in those instances, the bias should be set to 'rear'.

Anyway, this is a setup thread, and it's gotten slightly off topic.

This setup is not good. The option will wear out after 4 laps and the car is undriveable. I tried a offline GP with Raikkonen and 50% of race

Awesome setup mate. I went way to far down the path of tyre conservation with mine and it ended up eating tyres quicker lol. Yours looks like the exact opposite, especially the alignment values, in that tyres wont last 2 minutes but weirdly they seem to last OK. I have found I had to dial a little camber out for online races and lower the gearbox a bit a tyres weren't lasting quite long enough and not getting near top of 7th gear with full fuel.

Yeah TBH ive kinda come to realise Ive gone down a dead end with this setup direction. The weird thing is this setup is almost a complete copy of a league racing friends setup and it works brilliantly for him lol?. I like the way the car drives with this setup, very soft and understeery, but its just not fast enough when pushed on this twisty track and when you do push it as you say the tyres get mulched. I dont have the subtle control using my fingers with a pad instead of my feet with pedals so tried to dial out all wheel spin/rear tyre wear but didnt work. Ironically ive found using the setup from Lotus F1 Team posted above but with the rear camber dialled back a few clicks works for me. on -3.5/-1.5 I just eat rear tyres lol.

Still top 200 using a slow setup ain't bad going lol. I'll have to try using the the new setup, perhaps I can break the top 50 :)

I've tried different setups from here, but the best time was 1.41.4xx, progress stopped. Then, I just set "quick car setup" in right position (fast) and Aerodynamics: 4 (front) and 2 (rear).
My time was 1.40.9 on second lap :)
