I'm doing 1:16:mids in a race setup (full tank) consistently, with a hotlap of 1:15:7 in the same setup with the Viper.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. As always I learned valuable lessons. Despite not finishing, I have to call this my best RD race yet.

Started with my best qual result ever: 6th. As a perpetual back marker, I was lightheaded and giddy. The race started well too. For the first time, I held my 6th position after the start. That is, until the end of the straight after Eau Rouge.

The car ahead of me braked much earlier than I expected and rather than plow into him, I swerved and went straight onto the grass. I collected myself and dutifully watched the whole field go by and rejoined in last place. Instead of dispairing, I said to myself "You've got some work to do".

So I started reeling people in one by one. Eventually I clawed by way back to 7th and had reeled Gaynall in preparing to regain 6th. This was lap 13 or 14 and my tires were starting to go. I figured since I was running fast already, fresh shoes would give me an advantage at the end of the race.

I was wrong :frown: I was using auto pit and got a stop and go for speeding. I was unimpressed, so I came around to serve my stop&go and when I entered the pits the game froze on me. Now I was pissed. Very frustrating. I really wanted to finish this one.

Anyway, the feeling of being faster than at least part of the field was really weird. It's left me thirsting for more :rotfl: So while I didn't finish (damn game freezing) I still have to call this my best RD race ever!!!!

All was well until Kemmel when I watched someone miss the braking zone and go straight off, and said to myself "Man, that sucks he's going straight off". Naturally, being the compassionate person I am, I followed him straight off myself :damnit:.

I've gotta say, Bob, you were very fast today. Well done! You had your Aston dialed in.
