This is seriously a bad start, even the co-driver is the same annoying voice (from the first trailer), i will try to get my hands on what ever copy of it and the loeb evo thing and give you guys a heads up.
cheers

Just so we are clear btw guys, this is firmly meant to be SimCade, the physics engine is not capable of anything more than that in this early stage of it's life, and I would never claim anything more either.... (Not sure what PR & Marketing are selling it as ?) , fun to play with some tail out rally style fun, as a fellow sim racer I felt I needed to share that here at least among other sim racers, while I am a Sim Racer I also enjoy a Simcade title occasionally, I hope you do too.

I don't see the point in making a Rally Game/Sim if it's not better than Dirt Rally !

WRC 5 & SLRE are just horrible dated piece of :poop: IMO !
Well there's always going to be a big audience for more arcade/casual racing games. I see nothing wrong with that for the most part. As long as the devs are upfront about what they're making. I don't think the people behind wrc5 have come out and stated they're intention is to create a sim.

On the other hand, Milestone, when not giving away trade secrets on how to create a top notch game logo or talking about how each blade of grass and pebble on every stage was painstakingly recreated, they have thrown around words like "simulation", "true to life", and "realistic" quite frequently. And in my opinion what they've shown so far looks awful for even an arcade racer, let alone any kind of sim.

I can maybe speak for all of us when i say that we are just tired of Milestone products, they are pretty much like Codemasters, each release comes with nothing new,
WRC3 and WRC4 are the same exact game, the only thing they have done is updated the stages graphics (Actually they made it worst!), and lets talk about the stages, well there isn't any... for every location they have build one stage. And lets talk about the physics... well if you never drove a car on a loose surface before, you can actually feel that car physics of their games make no sense at all, it feels like driving a boat...
And people can already see that there isn't something new going on with this game.

The problem is not that we want them to make a full sim (Would be nice though), The problem is they have really bad products.

can't understand all the hate for this when people haven't even played it. looks good to me. Dirt Rally has the sim part of rally down pretty well, so there's room for a simcade title here. simcade or even arcade doesn't necessarily mean bad. Dirt 2 was pure arcade and that game was incredibly fun to play.

if you guys think full-on sim, having to spend hours tweaking your setup for each stage, having to do perfect stages each time otherwise you end up 10th, etc. is fun then that's good for you, but it might not be fun for other people.

i play games to have fun, and if this game is fun to play, that's all that's going to be important to me and lots of other people i'm sure. everyone keeps banging on about RBR but completely forgets that RBR actually sold like :poop:

i can't understand this obsession with narrow stages people have either. a lot of the Colin McRae rally games had fantastic gameplay - and the stages were 4-5 car lengths wide. the handling was :poop: as well in a lot of the earlier CMR games that people go crazy over. have a look at this video from CMR 2:

I can't understand people who cant understand the fact that both WRC 5 & SLRE totally stinks IMO.:roflmao:

It has nothing to do with any hatred but all to do with facts.

I mean it's pretty obvious that some companies are only in it for the money because the game series doesn't evolve at all.

I used to love the first Colin McRae games but then I discovered Sim Racing and I knew what I wanted to spend my time on.

It's a bit like sex ( Sim ) and watching porn ( Arcade )!

I rather have the real thing :roflmao:

Erm, Mikaela, that only means that they stink to you. You don't use any sensible arguments there...

The matter of evolution cannot be judged from a simple 5-min gameplay. We will see how it drives, how long (and how many) tracks are in etc., etc.

A racing game doesn't need to be a full-blown sim to be loads of fun.

And CMR2: man, oh man... So many hours spent listening to that exhaust note. Still loving it!

When the engine is ready to start becoming a proper rally sim I will be first to hang from the top branches of the tree's and shout about it, in the mean time we just try to develop a solid Simcade title which will work across multiplatform and appeal to the more casual WRC fans.

I remember sitting with my friends playing WRC1/2 with a crate of beer and a couple of mates for hours when we were younger, and we didn't care a stuff in that moment that it wasn't full sim, in just the same way we never cared Burnout wasn't a sim either.

We have a development curve which is realistic and aims to climb into the simulation genre "eventually", Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.

Very true codemaster went through a number of iterations.
colin mcrae 3 and 04 where nearly identical (04 the wrc license was dropped).

The first 'Dirt' had quite a different handling then the editions
that followed, liked it's directness, but was not to everybody's
taste.

Later editions of 'Dirt' where more loose but still good
and the current 'Dirt Rally' is going for a more exacter / sim
approach, at least in it's current state of early access.

Personally started to appreciate the current wrc series at version 3.
Both wrc 3 and 4 have a very direct handling plus I must say the in car view
aka cockpit view is excellent I hope these qualities end up in wrc 5.

Kylotonn Games have published a new trailer for WRC 5. The upcoming rally game is nearing release, and now we can have a gander at the Citroen DS3 zooming around some of the included stages.

The car itself is the one driven by Kris Meeke, Mads Østberg and Khalid Al Qassimi in the real life World Rally Championship. The video depicts it racing in a variety of conditions, from sun-drenched gravel, to mud, all the way to snow.

The trailer comes from the official WRC 5 Facebook page and the developers have confirmed in a comment that the game will feature Sébastien Loeb, which is somewhat curious since he's getting his own rally game, Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo by Milestone.

One quibble, though: after watching the trailer several times, the car looks like it's moving at a slightly juddery, stuttery pace. We don't know if that's due to the video quality, or the game itself yet, but it's somewhat annoying. Fingers crossed the final game doesn't have any issues of the sort, lest it be swallowed by the competition.

WRC 5 is slated for Autumn 2015 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. What do you think of the latest trailer? Sound off in the comments!

Shaping up nicely now. Looks a lot better than a few months ago.

Good year for rally fans so far.

Yes, to be honest it doesn't look that bad to me, whereas other people seem pretty critical of it. The general impression is that this is going to be a lighter, less realistic game than Dirt Rally, and there's nothing wrong with that (the old CMR games are classics).
