Weird problem - Macau asphalt too dark all of the sudden

    Hi,

Macau has been my favorite circuit since I started using Assetto Corsa, and I've had no issues with the track... until last week, when, all of the sudden, the graphics on that track (and only on that track) got screwed. The asphalt is now too dark, the white line look like they have their color inverted or something, so they are a weird dark gray. It makes it almost impossible to race there.

I know there was the SOL update a few days ago, and there's always tweaking going on with the game regardless to that, but I really can't think of anything that would affect just one track like that. And it had to be the one I use the most...

Granted I did not try all the other tracks, but so far it's the only one I have with that problem.

I've tried a 'clean' version of the track (no updated cams, ai lines, etc), just to see if maybe something important got deleted from the game dir, but the problem was still there.

    MacauProblem.jpg Any ideas?

CM auto-updates track configs, the current (462) seems to have some very severe problems. Mine has red tarmac

I hope the author fixes that soon. I wonder if there is a way to roll back to an earlier config?

The config now uses the new tarmac i made that supports both dry and wet conditions. Hmm, I should probably upload it here on RD since not all people are on Shader Patch Discord.
    Get it here
    https://share*mods/p6b4pm5wam7l/macau_wet.rar.html
    (remove the *) or
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/06vv687pjjxtvn1/macau_wet.rar/file

Extract archive to track folder and enable the skin in CM.

Or extract the textures directly to macau\skins\default folder. This replaces the textures automatically. THIS IS ACTUALLY RECOMMENDED AS WITH THE FIRST METHOD CM DELETES THREE TEXTURES THAT ALREADY CAME WITH THE TRACK IN THE SKINS\DEFAULT FOLDER. YOU COULD ALSO CUT/COPY THOSE THREE TEXTURES TO THE WETROADS FOLDER.

I installed that, using the latter method. No more red tarmac but instead the tarmac appears pitch black on some places.

weather is Few clouds (Sol), time is 10:00

As a short-term fix could you upload an earlier config?

There is something else wrong there since that weird building is all white and the rings on the casino aren't glowing. Make sure that there is no conflict and that you only have one macau.ini in the shader patch folders. And that you have the latest shader patch p185 and sol of course.

There is only one macau.ini so I don't know what conflict ther could be. I was using preview140 since that is the recommended version, didn't know auto-downloaded configs require a non-recommended version. I updated CSP to 185 and Sol to 1.3.1. (manual install ofc), also deleted and re-download the track config files. The pits area still appear pitch black, and there are black squares all over the tarmac.

Using the files NoThrottleControl provided things do get better, but the asphalt is still too dark. It's almost like it's wet, but it's not, I'm using clear weather.

    Macau1.jpg

Also, there's a section of the track (near the hook) that looks 'normal'...

If you have used the second method to extract the skin make sure that they are in the correct folder.

    Untitled2.jpg
If you have used the first method you have to enable the skin in Content Manager.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks\macau\skins\default

Made it as certain as possible by editing one the textures there

Hmmm i don't know what is causing the black texture problem. I can reproduce the red textures when i disable the skin in CM.
Just to check. You guys have the correct version of the track? Check the dates of the kn5 files. Latest modified
    should be from December 2018.

November 2017 here. That seems to be the problem. Where to get the correct version? Googled and found two downloads that are even older

Happy to report that the problem has now been solved. publius you should be able to fix it too with the same steps Screenshot_rss_gtn_ferruccio_36_macau_14-8-119-0-51-14.jpg
With AC Track Reboot site down I had no idea the track had been updated. With RD uploads it's so easy to keep track (no pun intended) of updates. Like you said not everyone is on Shader Patch Discord so uploads and information via other channels like RD would be nice

    Appreciate the help NoThrottleControl

I had no idea about the update to the track, though I actually looked for one. Anyways, updating the track did the trick. There are a few (usually the arrow) bits of the asphalt that still have the color off, leading to some track color patches, but either than that it's back to being playable and just as enjoyable as it's ever been. Thanks NoThrottleControl.

You mean like this. This is a shot from the vanilla track and vanilla AC. If you mean the slightly different shade of grey then unfortunately its just bad uv mapping on the arrows. Screenshot_dallara_f317_macau_14-8-119-2-58-46.jpg

I'm getting a more extreme version of that... And a few more issues with other stuff, like crosswalks and other bits.

Then something is still not right for you. Please read everything what Hoksu did. If you extracted the newer version of the track remember that you had to delete the old one first. Install the latest shader patch (p185) and sol. Make sure you have no duplicate macau.ini configs in shader patch folders, etc.

Thanks. I'll try all that. Already happy the track is playable as it is, so that's always a nice starting point.

Can do better than just playable though, it's a great looking track too when everything works. Just do everything that NoThrottleControl said. Update track, update Sol, update CSP, install track textures
