The rule is for everyones best interest in "real life" and RD.

With such a short bit of track from the single file to the hairpin its almost an absolute must to "no overtaking" there. Also with so little room for error in single file through that section and the chance of blocking the track is very high.

If we were allowed to pass there then a blockage is inevitable.

A sensible rule for this circuit:good:.

I think you should have faith in the experienced guys here who are setting the rules, if you have not raced at Macau, then you have no idea of the consequences of crashes at those spots.
The rules are very good and are essential to allow everyone to have a reasonable chance of finishing their races here. Crashes in turn 2 (and they are usually multiple car pile-ups in early laps), will result in several cars/drivers having their race ended immediately, not just a simple "sorry" and proceed on. It will be "Race Over", all because someone decides to try a clever pass at that turn.
I raced at Macau with another community, and when the suggestion of putting these two rules in place was made, there were howls of "we don't need these stupid rules, we are all good clean drivers". Guess what, turn 2 lap 1, someone tried to pass, and we had a multiple car pile-up and half the field was eliminated there and then.
Melco hairpin is a no brainer, it is not possible to cleanly pass there, and any crashes caused by drivers attempting it, usually results in multiple car queues or more pile-ups.

Macau is a great track to race, and there are plenty of places to pass other cars if you show respect and patience. Strategy for the full race distance is essential here. If drivers get too impatient or over aggressive early, they will have a very short race, and it will be a nightmare for those around them.

Trust the guys setting the rules, they are there to ensure everyone has a chance at an enjoyable event.
