After almost a year’s break, whilst we have been strategising and waiting for the game to mature, rFactor 2 league endurance racing is back again at RaceDepartment. Start your engines folks, and get ready for some close fought, intense racing!

We kick off with the Virtual Sports Car Championship (VSC2), a multi-class endurance series inspired by the United SportsCar Championship. This is the first time that this league will have been run here at RaceDepartment. And whilst the similar styled ‘GT3 Club’ and ‘World Endurance Club’ events were predominantly for fun, the ‘VSC2’ shall provide participants with the opportunity and platform to shine, and will enable the best to show us their true mettle and skills.

The vehicle line-up will include, for the first time since the days of rF1, an LMP1 car - the Lola Rebellion developed by @Stefan Woudenberg. This shall be the fastest car in the league - a beast that is rewarding to tame - and reserved for the best teams and drivers. Meanwhile, the GT class shall comprise the URD EGT set of cars, which constitute the GTE field, as well as the ISI Corvette in the GTC category (entries permitting).

The format of the league shall be four 6-hour races, held every fortnight starting on the 4th October 2014; the schedule is as follows:
  • ROUND 1 – Silverstone - October 4, 2014 (12:00GMT)
  • ROUND 2 – Monza - October 18, 2014 (12:00GMT)
  • ROUND 3 – Sebring - November 1, 2014 (13:00GMT)
  • ROUND 4 – Spa-Francorchamps - November 15, 2014 (13:00GMT)
The calendar features 2 classic circuits that are commonly used in sim-racing - Silverstone & Sebring - with the addition of 2 tracks that are a bit different from the norm - Monza & Spa - to make it more competitive and interesting. In addition, one week before each race, on the Friday evening, a non-mandatory test race will be held, giving you the chance to see how you compare against your competition and rivals, thus allowing for setups to be tweaked and tested in the week leading up to the race.

To spice things up a little more, live weather data from wunderground shall be used for all of the events. This will be used to drive the in-game weather system, to mimic the real-life weather conditions at the circuit.

In addition, the VSC2 shall be adopting livetiming, the re-join and race data plugin developed by @Marcel Offermans, that we have come to know and love since the days of racing in the final season of the RDLMS. This will allow teams to continue racing in the unfortunate event of a driver disconnection, and provide drivers with information whilst they are not in the car. We also hope to broadcast the races live, with commentary, but short of this a highlights programme shall be produced for each race.

For those who are interested in taking part in the inaugural season of what we expect to be a thrilling, close fought championship, or to keep track of the latest news, be sure to visit the Virtual Sports Car Championship forum. Here you will be able to find all of the necessary information for entering a team. Check the General Information thread for details regarding the league, including dates and deadlines, participation rules, and helpful suggestions. Keep an eye on the News & Announcements thread for the latest updates, and the Discussion thread for tips and advice, general chat, and banter.

Finally, if you are a team looking for a driver, or a driver looking for a team then fret not! Post a message in the Teams/Driver Market thread, and hopefully someone will get back to you.

The application process is still open for another 2 weeks for the first event - the deadline is the 13th September, 2014 - after which team submissions will only be accepted for the subsequent round of the championship. To enter please read carefully through the TOLA, regulations and other information carefully, and send a PM with the necessary information to @Daiman Patel. We hope to see you on the grid!

If you have any questions regarding the league then please do not hesitate to contact either @Dennis Coufal or @Daiman Patel, or write a message in the event / discussion thread, and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Will we see a trailer in the near future? :)

@Ricardo Edelmann is working on it, it should be ready in a few days

No Circuit of La Sarthe ? :p
We are waiting for the modern version by yetisaj to be released for that :)

I am assuming this is going to be a European focused league, am I correct?

The races start at 12:00-13:00 GMT and last 6h, so especially if you drive a stint towards the end it should not really be a problem :)
