Hello, all fellow SIMRacers! Today I would like to announce (if not known already) that YES you can race in VR with an NVidia GTX 1050Ti. You can eve race with good quality and ZERO frame stutter.

VR is not where it could be right now. Maybe it is my graphics card. The details from about 100ft in front of the car become blurry but you can still bang around the track pretty well. It is certainly not as easy as I thought it would be.

I am not a claustrophobic man but that Huracan is like racing in a coffin with windows. The Ferrari has a larger interior. Believe it or not the Bentley is pretty tight inside. The Porsche is like sitting in a warehouse =o).

Watching my replays in VR was pretty cool too. It was like I was in the crowd but had VIP access to the edges of the track and private spectator boxes.

So, just to summarize and give hope to us plebes who cannot drop $1500 usd on a GPU, there is hope. Right now my card goes for $180 usd

I'll be replacing my card with the EVGA GTX 1660Ti when it arrives this Saturday. Who knows maybe things will sharpen up in the cockpit. Now I am eager to try flight simulators in VR. I'm definitely going to do some F3 in RRE. I already tried GT4. Vr seems to work a lot better in RRE just FYI. It's a lot sharper.

* WARNING - SUNLIGHT F---ING HURTS IN VR *

What pixel density are you playing with? The default setting can look really blurry, but if you can up it to 130% you will notice quite an improvement. But of course, not sure the 1050ti can handle it.

I just left it as default. I can't run beyond 98% with just my monitor. So, going up any higher will probably kill me.

My system is :

  • Core i7 7600K 4.2GHz
  • Crucial 2666 32GB
  • GTX 1050Ti
  • G1 Z-170X MB

Got way better lap times today too!

When I would race at Imola in the McLaren I would get 1'55"s or even as low as the 1'57"s. Today I got 10 x consistent laps of 1'49.400"s with my best at 1',48".647". I know with maybe some tuning I can be on pace. I think most of you here get in the 1', 45"s.

I take it there were no other cars in your 'race'?
No way on earth you would maintain 90FPS in VR with a start grid full of cars.

90 FPS? No I maybe get like 35-45 FPS and I have a full grid of 38 cars simulating the IMSA series in Raceroom. Assetto Corsa was the same story. I will try out ACC in a race to see what happens. iRacing on the other hand does not like to have more than one car.

I have a GTX 1070 and run everything on low, no super sampling or pixel density, the only settings I have above low are draw distance and effects. I can get mostly 90fps when I'm driving on my own, with other cars it's mostly 45fps sometimes going higher. It's playable but I think I'm going to look at replacing my card with a 2070 at some point this year. My current card is on 2nd hand sites for €200, so I suppose I could get something over €150 for my 1070. Prices for a 2070 seem to be around €500.

What I'm missing the most I think is effects, if I could turn that up to get all the rain effects I'd be somewhat happy.
