VR HMD Full RGB

Do HMDs run full RGB over HDMI. Nvidia defaults HDMI monitors to Limited RGB, not sure about VR as they are not shown in NCPL.
Found some threads suggesting connecting monitor to HDMI port used by HMD and turning Full RGB on before connecting HMD. Needs to be done after each driver update.
BS or not?
What is the easiest way to tell if you are running Limited or Full RGB? I really can't tell after trying, seems to be better but not 100% sure.

Same happens to me using 2 screens
40" TV I use most is limited, if I turn it off and turn sim monitor on it still shows as limited till I reboot or manually set

Still too hot to try new headset I sweat like a pig
