yet another excellent evening of lulz...

marc steps up on his debut and finally someone emerges to break james' domination in round 1... good work mate! :thumb:

olly and nigel off the pace this week - looks like nige needs more ffb problems to really get his fires burning :D

and, buxton, as ever - reinforcing his name while sir granto does work to repair his tarnished rep... well, until he got into the camaro that is, hehehe :good:

catch y'all in a coupla weeks for round 3 - we'll probably limit sign-ups to 12 from that point and switch to running 4 rounds as standard :flypig:

chaps... stu thomson has created us a unique skinpack... i've linked it in the sign-up post - it's the preferred skinpack for this series, so give it a download - am sure there's one in there to suit all :D

(currently in mod queue)

guys

we have decided that in the current climate, where we're making huge efforts to clamp down on drivers that ruin club nights for everyone, the last thing that we needed was a series of events where the dangling carrot of point scoring were there to incentivize those drivers who have to win at all costs...

the racing club is supposed to thrive on a friendly and laidback atmosphere which has nothing to do with the overall win... therefore we have removed the points element from these events... they will still run as intended - just with no scoring...

i hope you can all appreciate and support us in this decision... and above all, have some fun...

For once I'll post my race report quickly...

Qualy: Was struggling with understeer all practice, like Tim in the other Seat. I was running high 1:47s, bad. Then Keith, being the alien driver that he is, ran out, made a nice Seat set-up and uploaded it, and after also correcting my lines here and there I ran a high 1:45!! Took 5 or 6th, don't remember. Thanks Keith!

Race 1: I would have to say my best RD race so far. I was running 5th all laps 2-3, close to Yves. Then Marty (3rd) started to have some bad lag, which I think threw me and Yves off. Yves lost the rear of his BMW and I took 4th. Ran the rest of the race cautiously. Understeer was coming back towards the last laps, so Corey and Richard went by. Took 6th. But I'm happy with the race.

Race 2: Quite alot of banging at T1. I got hit by someone which sent me sideways, but I think he had gotten hit from behind. Recovered not too badly and was running in the middle of the pack. Then Peter put two wheels off the track and was quite slow in one of the corners. Passing him we had a slight touch at the front wheel. I thought it was fairly clean, but watching the replay that made him run wide. Sorry Peter, perhaps I should have waited. Then I got spun by Marty, who waited. But I had suspension damage from the hit and after a lap I called it quits because I saw that it was difficult keeping it on track. Don't worry Marty, that's racing. :)

Great race guys, thank you all!:)

On qualifying I tried to get pole but Keith was just too fast for me:) So second.
Race1: Had a nice start, but then Richard came inside and spun in front of me. After that I found myself behind Yves! A little offline practice against AI drivers taught me, so I waited until the second last corner and there I passed him!:) Then I was behind Marty who was lagging heavily, then he made a mistake in the fast right hander and I passed him. I was chasing Keith after that, tried to push, but still he was faster about 0,3 seconds per lap, then I made a mistake in turn 4 and decided not to ruin it for myself and had a safe pace after that. Also I got low fuel warning in the beginning of lap 10, so I was worried. In offline mode I even did the race with 25l-s in my tank, this time I had 27, but I was faster so God knows.. So, I've only seen Marty in my mirrors but he was far behind so I saved some fuel:)
Race2: put 30l-s in tank this time:) The first lap started well, I was outside behind Ian, then somebody touched him from behind and he almost spun cross my way! Then I was chasing Corey. After the chicane he was a bit slow and I had to brake, then Ryan tried to pass me and I was forced to the outside line in the next corner. Which was even worse, that somebody hit me there!:) But no problem, I continued not far behind, followed Keith again! When he collided with Warren I passed them, and I'd got a blue flag warning, don't know why, but it didn't appear after that fortunately. I was chasing Richard after that, and some laps before finish he made a mistake in turn 1 and I passed him! What was less fortunate for me, that Keith was also able to pass him there!:) Then I pushed as hard as I could, in lap 11 I made a mistake in turn 2 and Keith almost passed me! Then I pushed and I was able to keep my position! I took the inside entry on the second last corner in the last two laps, cause Keith was very close and I was worried about that point! (as I knew it's the best point to overtake) In the last lap I saw him flying out there, and it was over. I won!:) In my home!

Then Keith was able to stay in front of Richard, so he finished second, and that meant we finished draw on 1st with 18 points overall! Grats to Keith, definitely he was the fastest again!:)

Thank you Yves and RD for the race! And thank you all who voted for Hungaroring!:)

Good to finally be able to race with our USA cousins again. For me, it was more a test of my internet than anything else. Good news, I didn't get any lagging (not that I was aware of anyway, please let me know if I was) and no disconnects.
I decided to not qualify so I could start at the back, in case my lagging occured. I also wasn't familiar with the track, and this was clearly a very fast group. However, Gaynall must have done the same so I was only 2nd last. :laugh2:

I decided to check the replays because I was involved in two hits, but after viewing them, I didn't feel so bad.

Race 1: I took it very easy at the back to stay out of trouble. I couldn't believe it, but I hit Tim in turn 1 and spun him ( very sorry Tim). I waited of course but felt bad at the time. :embarrassed: I had been watching the accident ahead of us and suddenly Tim was in front of me out of nowhere. After viewing the replay, I see Tim had spun across track into my path, so I guess I was fairly innocent (I hope ).
After that I had some nice racing with Cory, Tim, Ryan, and Gaynall. My concentration was terrible and I managed to spin myself a few times, the car was feeling aweful, so I decided to just cruise around and learn the track. Ryan must have had similar problems and was trailing behind me but catching fast. Coming to the finish line we had some hilarious fun. I decided I didn't deserve pole for the 2nd race, so I slowed to let Ryan have it. He slowed, I slowed some more, so did he. We virtually stopped waiting for each other. I thought about reversing but it was getting ridiculous by then and we needed the race to end, so I chugged across the line for P8 and pole for Race 2. :laugh2: :laugh2:

Race 2. Well, I had pole whether I wanted it or not. So tried to concentrate some more and stay clean till all the aliens (there were lots in this field) rounded me up.
Surprisingly, I held the lead for a few laps, but Richard was the first to pass. Then Keith was onto me and obviously faster. While I was thinking about where to let him through, he decided for us. Unfortunately he lost control trying to pass and we collided. No problem, but I do have some advice Keith. That was not a classy move, including cutting across the grass to pass inside, no wonder you lost control. In the end it cost Keith more time than me, and it also allowed Peter to get both of us.
Keith eventually caught me, and I briefly thought about seeing if I could hold him off for a bit to give my Aussie mate Richard some time to get away, but I let him through down the straight, he was so much quicker there was no point holding him up.

Managed to bring it home in P4.

Thanks to Yves for another nice event, you certainly have some very fast drivers in this group.

Just got back in time to be a part of this and I was glad that I was.

Qual: Never really got a good feeling for the car, nevertheless did a good job to start fifth.

Race 1: Had a great start off the line, was up to second until Ryan ran up the back of me and spun me into the path of Peter. That had me around eigth and then up to sixth when two other people got together in front of me. I was following Ian for a while until he made a little mistake which let me through. After Yves had spun off infront I was in fourth and I stayed there until the end of the race.

Race 2: This time I got a good start off the line, from fifth on the grid again up to third. Again I was behind Ian and I made a clean pass on him at T1 on the next lap. I was then following Warren for a few laps until he made a mistake on the tight infield section, allowing me to take the lead. I lead for the next 5 or 6 laps until Peter caught up. I was too busy looking in my mirrors that I overshot my brake point and ran off the road at T1. This allowed he and Keith through. I stayed in third until I saw Keith off the road infront. Unfortunately he just crossed the line ahead of me.

All up I was happy with my third placing overall. Congrats Keith and Peter on your joint win!
