URD PX opinions

I'm sorry for opening another thread if there's an existing one. I have searched for one, but have found none.

Anyway, I'd like to hear your opinions on the "new" URD PX LMP mod. How realistic do you think it is, how does it drive, is it worth buying... Any information is useful. :)

And when will the content I paid for months ago finally be polished and finished.... :whistling:
When i sacrifice "n" number of goats and unleash the JT5 Shiro or Takaboshi or whatever they want to call it. That will fuel access funding, funding will trickle down to the modellers, the modellers will make the toyomori(ts050), the money will then go to the physics creators that will throw their keyboards at the wall until something works, the updates will be released, it will cause people to be happy, may even want to purchase another mod, boom the tadakatsu honda JT5 is released, reviving the sengoku era of feudal japan on the racetrack, this moral will soon fuel the birth of the Kanegasaki(lexus) resulting in a three way battle in which you have the ability to wage wars against your opponents and even temporarily team up with enemies in order to overcome a worse adversary. Over time this will lead to a contract with tecmo koei and URD will port nobunaga's ambition into assetto corsa and so for the first time in sim racing we shall face the demon king nobunaga oda.

spoiler alert the Oda get punted off at T1 by their teammates Akechi.

@SandroX did i get it all, sorry if i missed anything.

JT5 then PX1 completion according to rf2 thread.
But I bought the PX pack, before anyone even thought about the JT5....
I wouldn't complain if it was free content, but it was just as expensive as the official DLC packs. Even the EGT cars aren't polished as much as they should and still have some minor issues. I don't think URD should work on new content, until they finished what we paid for.

I am one of the most respectful persons in the world regarding sofware development (I know how this world works because I am a developer myself), but I also feel dissapointed, mostly because I think that maybe URD tried to get too many things out at the same time, being the small team they seem to be.

I guess the only thing we can do is to be patient.

By the time Urd will finish the promised lmps Kunos will have their own ready :-\
I know it was only 5 euro but still I'm not a happy customer. Out of all promised LMP cars we got 3 which haven't been updated in a long time. And now they have started another project..

I dont understand how you folks can make such a big deal out of a €5 pack.

Says the guy who harasses IER on a weekly basis about the progress of their free mods :p

Yep, URD has absolutely stretched themselves far too thin and are working on way too many things at the same time. Multiple years of DTM, GTE, Prototypes, Indy Cars for AC, and now Super GT. All while working on this stuff for 3 games now... Not to mention all this stuff requires updates every so often when one of these games has an update that breaks them. It's a bit ridiculous really, but Im not sure URD really cares that much about finishing the stuff when new content and announcements is far more interesting.

Shame because they produce really nice quality stuff. But the wait and delays kills a bit of the enthusiasm.

… and there is goes:

It would really be nice if URD would focus on getting their Toyota in a beta status out the door, fix bugs and update cars as necessary (fix audio when AC updates break it, update tire models, …), and then focus only with real work on the car models, Kunos does or cannot license (looking at the Nissan LMP H and P1 + P2 cars).

That and no more could be expected from people who have paid for the pack.
Any work beyond that cannot be realistically be asked for for such a low submission cost.

It would be a more clever business strategy to not offer packs of cars which create such a high workload but to offer single cars for purchase instead, only start selling when the car has an actual fully drivable RC status and NEVER EVER show content preview of products that is simply too far ahead to be realistically made sure to be released in time (see Toyota LMP H).

Bigger software houses than URD (like Kunos) simply have such a much higher development speed if their focus is on a certain car model and also do have a higher level of access to manufacturer data that the DLC quality will always be on a higher level.
It is bad when as a small and good quality mod maker as URD you get caught up in too much work to handle and then get over run by the big guys who ship a similar product out the door before you can satisfy customers you have accepted money from.

I am not mad at all at URD, as to my understanding I got all my money's worth with their LMP mod and the GT mod I both purchased. I understand though there are others who are not willing to understand the reality of URDs business and will insist on their value for the (very little) money they have paid.
You always have to make sure to stand by the product you sell a customer though and deliver what you offered upfront and have accepted payment for. I hope URD have not dug themselves into a hole with the PX mod :-(

It is not a good sign though they have started a Super GT mod (although again from their business perspective I can fully understand that they absolutely need the revenue such a new additional mod can generate to keep afloat and be able to keep up work).

Nevertheless I absolutely hope URD is successful businesses and can keep delivering the excellent content they have so far.
The sim racing community absolutely needs businesses like URD to receive content big houses cannot or will not touch.

JT5 cars were in work before PX. We had all 3 models done back in 2015. There are WIPs on our FB page from that time. They were on hold until some weeks back when we decided to finish them. They needed work thought becase they were early 2015. So we fully reworked them to 2016 specs and raised our models standarts to, the first results is the JT5 Shiro. Right now we want to do some small packages that will keep us in bussines, basicly something that will pay for our bills to. As sayed few times we do this for a living, we dont get richt but we love to do something that nobody else does and offcourse what we love. With T5 and EGT packages we were the first one to make this cars available in games overall actually. Right now thought many games do license and release alot of LMP content, some were even done by URD as example the first porsche 919 2015 model at Kunos is URD work, they updated it slightly. TS040 and R18 that will come this year for AC are again URD work to.
We did update our T5, EGT and PX constantly with the game, last updates were done with the sound fixes. If somebody missed those can email us and we provide new download links if you lost the old ones.
I do have to say that working on 3 games for us isnt an issue. For each of those games we have hired people who are working only on that. While its not a problem thought to find people around AC or AMS, its a problem actually in rF2. Alot of rF1 modders left and those who stayed migrated to AC. And we have some standarts to.
I rather scrap some work and delay it than put something out that its not 110%-example we scraped once fully allmost ingame ready Shiro PX1 and same did happen with Moyoda. So in both cases we lost months of work and offcourse money to but that is what i will continue to do if needed and until something is done properly it wont go out. Thats why we are going now new way to, when a car from a series is done, it will go into shop as single. SO no pre order with beta access or anything like that. Straight up finished product on higher lever anything before from us.
PX is beeing finished thought no mather what. Are we late with it, offcourse, a year over the time we should have spend on it!
I do have to remind it thought, it was allways pre order and beta stage and not really high price for that it allready offers and the 9.90/9.80 price is basicly far lower price thought that the final product will be wich was sayed from start.

Thanks a lot for the update - this is very much appreciated!

I do like the idea about you offering single cars in the future instead of packs too, as this way people can be offered finished products at once - no one will then ask about the rest of the package. This is good news and I am looking forward to more content from URD.

I never understood the aversion about hard working people getting rich (in the sim racing community every other person seems to be a socialist or an anarchist - this is not how things in the free world work) - I would absolutely love you guys getting filthy rich on the work you do, as long as you offer the odd, interesting race car now and then ;-)

Do I understand it correctly - the currently WIP Toyota LMP from Kunos is based on URD work (is this the work you have previewed on Facebook as part of the PX pack?).
So the PX pack will receive a different Toyota LMP H than the announced for 2017 Kunos Toyota LMP?
Sorry for the confusion ;-)

Keep up the great work!

They announced the TS040 and R18 both from 2014, that is what we did for them. We are doing the 2016 version.

How I would love you guys to death if you release those f***ers!!! Not really planning to go for the Kunos Ready to Race DLC as the TS040 and R18 would be the only cars I'd be interested in so I'll continue to wait or you guys! Thanks for the elaborate update and hoping this is still gonna happen :).

Even if those are the only two cars from the DLC you ahem interest in, it is very, very well worth the cost in my opinion - these are done at a very high quality (especially the energy recovery system aspect of driving these over racing distance).

Regarding the PX mod, I would really love to hear some news about the mod :-(
As we have now a few more vehicles in the class (albeit strewn across different years and performance levels), it would be wonderful to hear some LMP2 news or news regarding the 2016 Toyota LMP1-H ;-)

I am regularly using the cars from the URD PX mod and URD GT mod to run AI races with a full multi class LMP1, LMP2 and GTE field and truly enjoy it. I hope we will see some updates.
