Understanding GTR2 Road Bumps

Hi, I recently have started playing GTR2 and I am really enjoying it.

There is one preference I have though and that is I dont like the sine wave bumps that are baked into the tracks. RF1 had the same thing but it can be limited or removed by editing the field 'roadbumpamp' in the track .tdf file. In RF1 It was typically 0.010 meaning that the track had a constant 10mm washboard applied to the surface everywhere. I get why this was done so as not to make the tracks appear unrealistically flat but my personal preference is to not have this as the car is constantly porpoising to the perfect 10mm sine wave bumps everywhere. Especially annoying on super stiff cars. I dont think this setting affects the unique bumps that have been made by the track builder so you still get to keep the normal bumps in certain parts of the track.

I know the GTR2 engine is predominantly the same as RF1 but I couldn't find the same 'roadbumpamp' field in GTR2 track files so I could change it to suit my preference (not entirely true I think the field is still there on one of the tracks, maybe Barcelona, which I was able to change).

Any advise on this is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
of course you will not find any tdf files but you can insert it in gdb file:

RoadBumpAmp=0.006
RoadBumpLen=32.0
RumbleBumpAmp=0.024
RumbleBumpLen=6.0
MiscBumpAmp=0.012
MiscBumpLen=24.0
CreteBumpAmp=0.018
CreteBumpLen=12.0

Those lines i put them in a track and apparently it works
notice i have downgraded "roadbumpamp" to 0.006

there are other things you can add in ther gdb file, for exemple:

RoadDryGrip = 1.07
AIDryGrip = 1.05
FrontTireHeatMult = 1.00
RearTireHeatMult = 0.8

Maybe good to try i think

There is no need to mess with each track individually. You can globally change this by editing specialfx.tec file found inside Locations folder. These are artificially added bumps to the track and as I have found have little to do with real life tracks. Best to lower them substantially or just completely disable them. This way you get rid of the exaggerated cockpit vibrations as well.

@ Need_For_Speed,
Thanks man, yes obviously this can be done globaly but there are maybe some track that work better with originaly tdf, so they will need theyr gbd modifyed.
and those variable are for individual tracks, much better to use those as a basis for each track and modifyed at will.
RoadDryGrip = 1.07
AIDryGrip = 1.05
FrontTireHeatMult = 1.00
RearTireHeatMult = 0.8
