PC1 Trouble Binding to Keyboard

Hi folks,
WELL, getting there, slow but sure.........
At least I can drive around a track successfully - all the other "stuff" is still a blur - thank goodness for this forum and several priceless ytube vids.

My problem:
I'm trying to bind the forward, reverse, up, down to my keyboards up/down/left/right keys.
I hover over the particular area, then press the keyboard assignment I want, but none of the "W,S,A,D, will take the new assignment.....

What have I overlooked here....
