Trading Paints

In the process of making sure that everyone has each other custom paints that they have created for any and all of the iRacing cars, helmets and suits. Which will make it easier than compiling a skinpack for each individual RDiR League and Club events. Will keep you guys posted.

If you have signed up on Trading Paints to upload/share your paints please post here. I know alot of you do. Thanks :)

Here ya go Nick.

Take a look at this tutorial in the iRacing forums:

Car Templates here:

It's a good start on learning how to use the template and add a pattern to the car. I'm not that great at starting from scratch, but using the patterns within the template and then adding your own logos is a good way to learn. Alot of trial and error, but really makes it worthwhile when you get it just right and able to see your hard work in replays and such. To me painting is almost addicting as the racing lol. Just have fun with it! :)

Any questions I'm sure there are alot here that would be willing to help you out.

If you have a gander in the iRacing forums in the 'painting' threads, there are some guides for various applications such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP etc.

I'm no 'West Coast Customs' or 'Boyd Coddington' when it comes to designing decals for my cars, but I do use Paint Shop Pro XI and have enough of an understanding how painting with layers works, so achive more or less what I'm after.

One of those things I find that the more I messa bout with it, the better my understanding is. Like many things, practice, practice, practice, lol.

:)

Also, I found a neat .PNG image file from the iRacing forums that helps you locate where certain parts of the car actually are, as the templates can be a bit tricky to navigate. You add it as a new layer beneath the mask layer, and the paintable areas of the show up in grid format (thanks to this file).

There are also details about it (and the wire frame) over at iRacing here - http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1389617.page#3022108
