Track Designing Competition

@Nelson Ullinskey the part I assume you're talking about is the bit at the start with the roundabout - that's already used for IndyCar so I would think it's alright? (OK it's not wide, but it isn't super super narrow...)

@FerrariMan96 I am referring to the area underneath the parking garage thing along Seaside Way after my made-up hairpin turn. Look at it on street view and you will see what I mean. And yes, I know the part you are talking about. I started following IndyCar two years ago and have pretty much enjoyed this street circuit except for the fact that it seems relatively slow compared to their other venues such as Barber Motorsport Park or St Petersburg.

Here is my FINAL entry for Long Beach: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6226524

A few notes: I wanted to make it slightly faster, but not too fast. I think this splits the difference quite well. And I have noticed we now need to create accounts to save our stuff! :cautious: Hopefully this will not deter any new members from participating.

Edit: Stupid me, I forgot to check the street view. I have to withdraw this as the last turn prior to the esses-chicane thing is physically impossible. :(

No you don't. I have never created an account to save them

I have tried again.

I made the cars go up onto E Ocean Blvd so they could go down the road next to victory Park. This little section of road is the iconic bit of the circuit (in my eyes) and some people have missed it out.

So here is my FINAL FINAL entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6227918

A few notes: Again, I try to improve the speed as one of the things I somewhat disliked about Long Beach was its low speeds. I think there are a fair amount of over taking possibilities while maintaining speed over a 2.1 mile distance. As seen, I have torn through the fountain turn. In a perfect world, this area would be completely redone and there would be a fountain over to the side of the track. :) Again, this is my final entry and will most definitely not be entering anything else.

Well, here's what I've come up with. I think it looks like it'd be fun to drive, with plenty of passing opportunities and good opportunities to step on the gas. I put in lots of chicanes of varying tightness too, particularly on that long section that would otherwise be straight. ;)
Not being familiar with the Long Beach circuit, I think I see where the pitlane is supposed to be and I'm pretty sure I have the correct required area in there.
For some reason the distance is reading as NaN, and I'm not sure why.
The course is to be run clockwise.

RE: making an account. this allows you to save and go back later to work on it again

EDIT: I see where pitlane is supposed to be now, and I see that my course kinda violates the pitlane ... However, I would like to point out that there's that nice tight chicane right where the pitlane exit is coming out, so I'm hoping that that is still OK. :D

EDIT EDIT: OH HO!! It stopped reading NaN, so now I see it's just over 2 miles

Okay here's the scenario: Hawaii wants to hold a motor racing event, the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) no longer wants to race in Sonoma California and IndyCar is looking to expand to the Pacific and so is the WEC. The solution? A multi-day racing event on the runways of the Honolulu International Airport!

The Maximum length of the course is limited to 6.5 Km.
