Track Designing Competition

There was a time this was normal. Can you imagine it today??

Pretty simple challange: Go back and find your favourite circuit you have ever created on this forum (street, hybrid, permenant or whatever), improving it if necessary and then tell me what makes your circuit so great. If you can’t pick a favourite or haven’t made enough to choose from, make another circuit anywhere and do the same, tell me why it is great( although I would prefer for you to pick a circuit you have already created).

Don't have time to be that in-depth but this is my favourite, lots of elevation change, high speeds and good overtaking spots, it may be a long track length wise but a lap shouldn't take that long to get around. My favourite part of the track is probably what you could call the middle sector from about 2.3km to 4.6km, fast and flowing but with a couple passing opportunities.

Can't imagine @rubaru or @Jimlaad43 having much fun with this one :D

That’s all the detail I need.

One of my first attempts at a race track. In the "Bernie Goes Bonkers" challenge, we were tasked with setting up a street circuit in North Korea. While most of the group kept to the capitol of Pyongyang, I went outside the norm and selected the east coast city of Wonsan.

The main straight is one kilometer long and is plenty wide for the pitlane to run alongside it. First major overtaking point of the lap, T1/2/3 is a circle around the roundabout with a fountain in the middle of it. I'm thinking we will turn this on during the race. The parking lot with a bunch of circles in it (?) becomes a chicane not unlike the old Singapore Sling. T7 is a high-speed right-hander that leads into the next best overtaking spot, a120-degree right hand T8 we will call "Fun Fair". T9 swings back left 120-degrees and sends drivers to the slowest part of the course, the Red Roof complex at T10/11/12. This area will get very tight and could see a lot of bumping between drivers. They will be fighting hard to set themselves up for the upcoming three high speed left turns (think Baku Sector 3) with a chicane in the middle. T16 provides the final big overtaking point of the lap.

What makes the circuit so good?( not in a threading tone, just that was part of the challenge:))
This track manages to take some of the best parts of the circuit and redesigns it to something unrecognizable. Ample room for runoff area is given (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6215445) and we are left with something that will allow for great racing while still having fun corners. I've removed the current racecourse last sector and replaces it with a set of high speed chicanes that would be awesome.

Basically, I have struggles to create anything better since.

So here is my FINAL FINAL entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6227918

A few notes: Again, I try to improve the speed as one of the things I somewhat disliked about Long Beach was its low speeds. I think there are a fair amount of over taking possibilities while maintaining speed over a 2.1 mile distance. As seen, I have torn through the fountain turn. In a perfect world, this area would be completely redone and there would be a fountain over to the side of the track. :) Again, this is my final entry and will most definitely not be entering anything else.

My entry

I wanted to go way old school to the early days of this forum. My entry in particular is meaningful because it is Long Beach, viewed by many as the Monaco GP of America and the Indy 500 of California. The changes I made are special in that I try and maintain its general nature of being a short(er) and tight circuit while also making it substantially faster which also helps with overtaking. Also, while Long Beach has seen many iterations of layouts over the years, my entry held the original parts while bringing back some retro sections and expanding in new areas as well.
