The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

@anton_Chez Jochen and me worked together on this RC-Servo seatbelt project.
You can find the build thread here.

https://forum.virtualracing.org/sho...ffer-100-Euro-(auch-Ohne-Motion-realisierbar)

I am using it on my rig.

It is working ok, not the strongest motors and sometimes noisy, but anyway.

For me? None of both.

Wait, wait, wait, don't shoot! let me explain

The seat belt tensioner is a nice add on, but it is realy inconvenient. So much hassle to put on and off each time. So most if the time I am not using it.

Traction loss, I do not have much experience with it, I tried it only once.
It was hard for me to detect at all, I'm not sure if it was a settings thing or this particularly mechanic.
Maybe I'm not sensitive enough for these kind of motions.

But keep in mind, these are only my personal preferences and experiences.
I do know guys who love their seat belt tensioner and traction loss.

Traction loss when setup properly and Not Super sensitive so that you feel the TL axis EVERY time you breath on the steering wheel is IMO a No questions asked kind of affair.

Like adding motion as a whole. Once you got it, There's no going back.

@saxxon66 Strange, After a few years of wearing belts, It feels awkward Not to wear the belts while in the hot seat.

I guess were all different and have unique preferences.

If you did you belts all over, would you opt for bigger motor's...or stick with the Servos ?

Does anyone have a logo for the SFX-100 that they can share? I know @sjb266 printed one for his control box. I am having a car skinned for my upcoming V8 Supercars season and I want to replace the Nvidia logo on the back with the SFX-100 logo.

I’m working on it as we speak, a 3d printable one.

Dont know when its done though, busy with work and my kids.

Would it be possible to share your seatbelt tensioner build ?

I would like the same thing as the one shown in the sfx-100 build/explanation videos from florentin.

Thanks sjb266! You guys are all great and so responsive!
I'm glad it's working for you. Many days and countless posts later my post is still not worthy of a reply. Perhaps it contained stupid questions but more likely people noticed and thought "I can't be bothered but surely somebody else will deal with that." Not a great first impression. So I guess I'll be out of this place, down the road wherever...

Can anyone confirm that the reduction bushing/thread insert here is the same as the one on the shopping list but the part number changed for the hyperlink? It says "Reducing sleeve RH10 / M8, material: steel, galvanized" which looks to be the same as the old one, but want to confirm before I order.

Old part (broken link): http://kinetikmsystem.de/Aluprofil-...--klemmverbinder-/Reduzierhuelse-RH10-M8.html

New Part: https://www.kinetikmsystem.de/de/pr...eduzierhuelse-rh10/m8-material-stahl-verzinkt
