The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

The samsung 49" is basically a metal plate with the display fixed on it. If you mount it right and adjust your speed and acceleration accordingly you shouldn't have any issues.

Did you open your monitor? I have a small rattling noise and I would like to check it out but I can't seem to get it open. Did you buy a special tool?

Just to clarify this list is for the NTL product correct? So with the exchange this would come out to $334 CAD and the cheapest I found on Aliexpress totaled $510 Canadian so for me it looks like NTL would be the way to go if above is the NTL prices. And can I just send the part names listed above and they will know exactly what I need or do you have specific part numbers?

Yup they know exactly what we are after with as many order's as they have filled for all of us.

510$ is just an example of how you have to Scour the ali Site and multiple sellers to get the lowest costs, unfortunately the shipping adds up when dealing with multiple sellers. So the lot buy from 1 seller is By FAR the best situation.

Excellent, I just sent for a price request. Now anyone have a North American contact for item24. I put in a request true their website a week ago and still haven't heard back.

Wow, that's the cheapest I've seen yet by far. £478 for 4 units with delivery

Can I use two of those for TL and surge with my SFX-100?

Is that the same motor as the one for the SFX 100? Want one to add for a belt tensioner setup.

I know the 90ST part is the same but the M04025 is different from the M02430 of the SFX motor + driver. Does it matter?

This motor is a bit different it is 1000W and 4N (the one on the shopping list is 90ST-M02430 75W and 2.4NM ) The question is will it be ok? I would think it would be but maybe the settings might need adjusting

Ah! there one concern it's speed is lower 2500 RPM (3000RPM for the listed)
Another thing is it is single phase, which I dont think is any concern on the listed one just the single phase is used.

I mean once you factor in the cost of shipping it’s only £18 less per unit, really not worth the saving not using the ones which have been tested, are known to work and have good motor settings. Then you also need to factor in the considerable saving you get in custom charges from the one in the official link (can’t remember his name right now).

The motor is the most important thing so really don’t understand why people are skimping on it for really minimal savings.

For the same reason people skimping building the SFX100 actuators instead buying ready commercial ones...

Apart the joke, its still considerable cost for the average gamer...

I mean £3500 vs. £72 is hardly comparable and as I said the customs charge will actually make it a lot closer. Also I’m sorry but that £72 of a £1500-£2000 build is nothing and not average gamer price anyway, neither is a DD wheel or 80/20 rig to support it all!

Then there is also the fact that a lot of us enjoy doing DIY projects so it’s not just about cost.

I contacted skye@ntl-bearing.com. and got response from Amy so looks like she is still the contact. Gave me a quote for everything and asked if I needed the motors and drives as well. I guess she knew what I was building. I haven't heard anyone mentioning they bought motors from NTL. Is there an issue with there motors or did they just start selling them? She quoted me $145.00 USD each which is the lowest I have seen by far. She listed them as :

1 x 90ST-M02430 220V 750W Servo Motor (Version A/B Optional)

1 x AASD-15A Driver

1 x 3 Meter Motor Cable

1 x 3 Meter Encoder Cable

1 x 25 Pin Centronics Connector
