The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

Any one had trouble with DHL holding packages namely the servo motors from Hong Kong
I've paid the custom charge yesterday but still on hold

Do they delay a few days?

Also I've just found out that 10mm washers won't fit the top mount as the main hole is only 17.5mm, I'm using the item profile btw, am I missing something, I've look for washers to fit and can't find any?

I skipped the washers in that mount since mine didn't fit either. The bolt had enough surface area that I trusted it to be a sturdy hold. 10 months later and all is fine.

Is it normal for Kinekit not to confirm an order or email?
I received their quote and paid it via bank transfer about 18 days ago.
Emailed 9 days ago to follow up and see if they got the transfer + confirm the order.
No replies or confirmations.......
Should I start to think anything? or give more time.

I can only say that if you have not checked your spam, thats where mine ended up with gmail.

They have not been known to be great with their customer service but I still have not heard of an order not arriving. It's not fast though.

Ok. That gives me hope and will not start to worry :)
Nothing in Spam.. yet.
I'm in no rush - as long as it comes, that's all. :)

Ah thanks man

I was going to fit them anyway with out the washers just seeing if there was a solution out there.

Thanks again
Also used item24 and skipped the washers. All good so far. The printed top plate seems solid as a rock. I think th ed reason for th ed washers in th ed original design is because the bolt heads were smaller (m8) so less surface area to keep everything clamped down. The m10 bolts are prety big.

Just a thought for those with an Ender 3 and haven’t finished printing- consider upgrading the mainboard to a 32bit, ie SKR Mini E3. For $28USD it is much quieter and you can print a lot faster with better results and dimensional accuracy
Printing on mine now I get better accuracy and finish at 100mm/s than I had at 55mm/s

Also worth noting that if you want to use BL Touch, that board is a bad choice. The PCB is poorly designed, and when under load (i.e. bed heating), it produces ripple in the +5v line. Thus your BLtouch will work approximately once in every four tries. I have the same board, and this problem is well known.

Thanks for the heads up - I don’t have anything like that, just manual mesh with a glass bed and haven’t had a need for relevelling every print so unlikely to use one.
A seperate power feed for your heated bed (as seems to be recommended by a few with even a stock E3) would fix that no doubt?

What kind of problems do you get with EMI?
I'm hearing lots about it
Do I just need to keep my cables separated?
Do I need to shield them all?
I'm getting close to the end of my build so am looking to power up properly soon

Just go for it, I had EMI on my accuforce but that was resolved by rerouting cables, I had it with the Valve index when I touched it, one of these https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/ferrite-sleeves/4669164/ with the index cable wrapped around it almost eliminated it. Its only an issue of you readjust the headset with your hand and now I have to hold it a while before emi.
