Check out two new preview images from the upcoming DiRT 2.0 rally game from Codemasters...

DiRT 2.0 looks likely to fill that rallying need for many sim racing fans when it launches next year, and Codemasters are doing a fine job of whetting the appetite on build up to release with some more rather fine looking preview images from the title, this time giving us a taste of both the old and new with the wonderful MkII Ford Escort (a classic for any rally game worth its salt), and the lesser spotted Porsche 911 RGT.

We already know that DiRT 2.0 will be comprehensively covering the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship when it releases February 2019, but what we are less sure about is the makeup of cars that look set to feature in the title as part of the vanilla build release. Both the Porsche and Ford (who would've thought I'd be more excited for a Ford in that sort of comparison?!?) will form part of the 'Deluxe Edition' of DiRT Rally, a special pre-release version of the title that looks set to contain "the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations (split between rally and rallycross) and five early vehicles unlocks (Ford Escort MkII, Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 1995, AUDI Sport quattro S1 E2 and Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite)". Of course, should you purchase the standard version of the title, both the Ford and Porsche should be available to purchase separately as additional DLC content.

So, who's excited then?

DiRT Rally 2.0 will release February 26th 2019.

Looking forward to trying out these two when DR2.0 releases this coming February? What other cars would you like to see added to the title? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

If they implement proper physics-based handling and FFB, I will get it. That was the only thing missing from DIRT Rally (and every other Codies rally racing game) that spoiled an otherwise pleasant title. I am afraid that it will be just another in the series of console-orientated twitch games that do not have plausible car response or feedback :(

Having spent a grand on latest wheel I not willing to let those sort of titles near it

Dakar Dirts Trackmanias , Spintires, TT IOM, Forza, GTA, Wreckfest, BeamNG
happy to run with xbox pad and lessen controllers wear

GPL to ACC for simulator/wheel
Wreckfest is actually great with a wheel, and it's ffb is not strong enough to damage your wheel.
I mean the handling with a wheel is really great, just like a handling of underpowered bangers. Nothing cruically wrong about that.

Definitely agree you're missing out with Wreckfest if you're playing it with a pad when you have high end hardware at your disposal. It's fantastic. If all 'arcade' titles were to work as well as Wreckfest with a wheel I'd be so happy. I almost feel bad for calling it an arcade-y title as the handling is as good as any off road racer I've driven.

Yes, I am looking forward to this and will purchase the 'Deluxe Edition' as after purchasing F1 2018 and found it very good, especially the FFB wheel feel on my TS XW so I have high hopes for DR 2.0...(hopefully I am not wrong, it's only money...lol).

I too look very forward to DR2 - and I will also pre purchase the "Deluxe edition" at some point before February 22´nd. Good times ahead.

I can't see any title being to blame for destroying a wheel. You must know to start at a lower level before you know what the sim is capable of throwing at you. All I know is I have an OSW and breaking that is going to take something pretty bad. Like an earthquake....

I too think it's too simplistic and naive to blame titles for destroying wheel. The default state of things is broken, and the wheel makers initially made effort to put the wheel from broken state (or well, from pieces state) into working, now it's in your hands to support that working state.
Kartkraft had problems with overheating my videocard until I capped the fps a bit more, to pervent this. So I can still enjoy Kartkraft, and not put it aside, blaming it and never enjoying it.

Wreckfest physics (under the hood, code wise) closely resemble those of rFactor, although it lacks temps simulation. It's funny how many wheel owners write it off as "gamepad game" without even testing it

Nothing about the FFB that can "break" a wheel. Any more than in other games. Adjust the FFB gain before playing if you're worried, working from low to high

You guys must be fun at parties, The comment is meant to be humorous and I've posted it a number of times here at racedepartment after my wheel died...

Anyhow.

Optical encoder in my G27 failed after about 4 weeks of nightly 3 hour online sessions playing wreckfest.

Granted its a weakness built into the device by Logitech, But there is a general consensus that long sessions and a lot of ffb action create heat and stress and it lets go.

The ffb involved in a derby game over jumps is quite a different beast then the tactile feedback that lets you know the weight has lifted on your rear left tire from a sim.

Completely worth it though, The G27 lasted me a few years, Wreckfest is worth every penny, but the performance of the wheel went downhill drastically once I started going online frequently and failed soon after..

Probably the way you posted it sounded it wasn't humorous at all.
Well, in this case, AMS kart killed my wheel few years ago :D
I've replaced optical encoder since then (there's guy who makes lasercutted ones from copper), but actually i've just glued broken one together while waiting for shipping of new copper one, and I've never installed copper one since then, as the glued one has been working well :D
That's what great about those cheap-ish wheels - right now the motor is dying - you can throw a new one in and it'll cost a pair of socks.

Back to the first off topic discussion.

I glued my encoder, Glue melted when I played wreckfest (Held up fine until then)

I then used another tip I found and glued a washer to the encoder to hold it, This played havoc with the sensors.

Then I requested the wife buy me a thrustmaster wheel for my birthday.

Meanwhile the brass encoder I ordered from Thailand arrived and I fixed the G27.

Now I've got 2 functional wheels, which is pretty sweet as I've got two near identical gaming PC's.

Exactly !

I hated the arcade fake barrel rolls in DR !

People seem to forget that it's Codies - Masters of Hype and Arcade !
If it'll last past the first 2 hours it will be dated by the end of 2019 for sure !

If Codies were serious about Sim racing they would make a title and upgrade it like the rest of the serious developers !

Have to try it though as I am a true rally addict :)
