The GT5 Prologue Hot Lap Challenge

Gentlemen start your engines! The format is simple, each week a car and track will be chosen to run hot laps. Starting Saturday 12pm GMT and finishing the following Saturday 12pm GMT you will be invited to submit your lap times for that challenge. Once the challenge deadline is met the slowest placed driver gets to pick the car and track for the following week (this is usually me!)

Taking part is simple, fire up GT5 Prologue and select the car for the challenge, click on 'Arcade' in the menu then choose the track and then select 'Time Trial' from the menu and then select the settings shown below:

Transmission - Manual
Active Steering - Off
Driving Physics - Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM) - Off
Traction Control - Off
Driving Line - Off
Front Tyres - Sports S2
Rear Tyres - Sports S2

Once you've selected that you can then start hot lapping, look at the online leaderboards or load a ghost lap. There are no tuning options so everyone runs the same setup.

To make it fair and competitive please don't cut the track or abuse the run off area's to gain an advantage, at least half the car should be on the track at all times and on street tracks don't use the barriers to give you an unfair advantage, the idea of the hot lap challenges is to run clean laps in the fastest time possible.

1:46.234 is my best so far, 45 is there it's just a matter of getting the power down smooth and getting that blasted chicane right.

1'11.826 for me so far, 178th, I think with a little more practice I can make top 100, I just did about 10 laps.

Must admit, this challenge is a thrilling one, with all those uphill bends & stuff. Gives a rallying experience & the car too is very ideal for that circuit

Yeah buddy the new WRC game does look to be in stiff competition with GT5

, especially since it'll be iopener enabled

Any news on when it will be released? Even that could be released only in the US at first you know

My plan for getting GT5 - Locate a friend (doing MS etc) who'll come home during Christmas & ship the game to his address. That way I'll save the shipping charges & Amazon don't ship outside US..

Hi Hotlappers
I'm headed up to the mountains to do a little camping for the next few days. PRETTY sure there's no broadband or electricity up there, so there will be no racing for me till I return.
Only reason I mention this is because if I understand the hotlap rules correctly, I would have been choosing the car/track for this week's challenge since I failed so horribly at Eiger last week.
