Superleague Formula is set to move up yet another gear with the launch of its first official videogame in September.
Now poised to kick off its second season, Superleague Formula is the only competition in the world to unite premier league quality motor sport with top football brands. The series features a grid of powerful single-seater racing cars – all representing many of the world’s most famous football clubs – competing for top honours on the race track. This year’s championship takes place between June and November with races in France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy and Spain. Among those celebrated clubs competing for outright glory are former UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool FC and AC Milan.

As on the race circuit, the exciting new Superleague Formula video game will combine the passion of football with the speed, excitement and emotion of car racing to produce a product with genuine appeal to the millions of global gamers already enjoying top selling football and motor sport games.
Renowned specialists Media Game and Image Space Incorporated are masterminding the development and subsequent launch of the official video game. ISI has a wealth of experience – its portfolio of video games already includes rFactor, F1 Challenge and NASCAR Thunder. I watched some of this on Eurosport a couple of weeks ago from Magny Cours, it looked ok, they have 2, 45 minute races and then a ten minute shoot out for money between the top 3 from both races, I bags the Tottenham car

Should be good, but essentially it is A1GP with soccer teams' names all over the car. Infact, other than the name, there is no affiliation with the soccer teams :/

Superleague Formula 2009

Not alot of info regarding this title atm unfortunatly apart from the vid below. It seems to be a highly made mod that is being issued as a rFactor addon. Looks nice all the same and i will be buying no doubt. Fed up with Simbin and their WTCC addons, but have huge respect for ISI and anything that's linked to rFactor and looks a nice addon to kill the time before rFactor2.

Looks to be released in the next 2 weeks.

one question. Are the cars faster then the GP2 cars? or slower? and wich Formula car is as close to those cars as possible?

AFAIK, the cars are updated Champ Cars, with some of the drivers from these former racing series now driving in Superleague Formula - Sébastien Bourdais, Tristan Gommendy, Antonio Pizzonia, Giorgio Pantano (tested Champ Car).

So, the cars should be pretty close to the current F1 cars.

The superleague cars may have more horsepower, but over a lap a GP2 is surely much quicker.

For example, in Magny Cours Pizzonia's (SLF) poletime was 1:26.555, while Bruno Senna (GP2) drove 1:22.250 in 2008.
In Monza, Guerreri (SLF) drove a 1:37.649 this year, while Petrov (GP2) lapped a 1:30.007.
And finally, Nürburgring 2008 Doornbos (SLF) drove a 1:42.457, while Hülkenberg (GP2) drove a 1:38.161.
All times are pole position times, and I'm sure the weather conditions haven't been worse every time.

You are absolutely right Robert!

I've checked the best qualifying times for F1 and SLF in Monza this year (in similar weather conditions) and the difference is huge:
- F1 2009, Jenson Button, Q2, 1:22.955
- SLF 2009, Max Wissel, Q. Gr.A, 1:36.444

So, I stand corrected - SLF cars and F1 cars cannot be compared at all. :smile:
Agree, that more appropriate comparison would be with cars from the lower classes.
