Skybox / Dome

Guys on the old RSC forum there was a thread on how to create a Skybox/dome.

Anyway to make an original Sky from photo's.

Does anyone have the tutorial that I am referring? or can someone post one here. I think it was done using photoshop.

Thanks for you help in advance!

If you go to your C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Locations directory you will find a file called commonmaps.mas.

You can extract these files using ISI's mas.exe tool.

In there you will find 5 SKY DDS files.

These are for the different times of day.

You could replace these with your own but then it will replace the sky for just about all you rFactor tracks.

Alternatively you can name your sky files the same as these but add them to the sky.mas file in your tracks folder.

If you check your SCN file for your track you will find these 2 lines.

MASFile=sky.mas
MASFile=COMMONMAPS.MAS

Because the sky.mas file is first in the SCN it will look here before looking in commonmaps.mas so it will find your sky DDS files here & use them & ignore the ones in commonmaps.mas

This way you will only affect the track you are working on.

Cheers
