RaceDepartment.com present the July 2016 edition of our Assetto Corsa Modding Roundup feature. Today we take a tour around the wide range of new and updated modifications for Kunos Simulazioni's Assetto Corsa during the month of July.

This is the fourth instalment of our roundup articles, following on from our April, May and June editions. I would again like to take this opportunity to remind you that in no way do RaceDepartment endorse these mods or take any responsibility whatsoever for any issues caused by downloading these files. The idea behind the articles is rather simple, to help throw light on some of the wonderful community content created for our favourite racing simulators. If you feel we have missed out some "must have" content, or want to draw my attention to a project you are working on, please feel free to drop me a PM or leave a message in the comments section below….

Assetto Corsa sees the introduction of a 2010 vintage RedBull fantasy concept racer, as seen in the popular Gran Turismo game series. Designed in response to Gran Turismos Kazunori Yamauchi's question: "If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform, and how would it feel to drive" and designed by RedBull genius Adrian Newey, the X2010 comes to AC curtesy of United Racing Designs (URD) as a free addon mod for the sim. High downforce with plenty of power, the URD RedBull is an interesting addition to Assetto.

Mantasisg has released his beautiful virtual recreation of the 1973 variant of the Jaguar XJ13 for Assetto Corsa. Current sitting at version 0.7, the XJ13 is already a very polished mod and benefits from lots of attention to detail, including fine scratch marks the car paintwork! Realistic physics by aphidgod provide an entertaining driving experience and further development is due to be brought to the vehicle in future releases. An excellent example of a fine historic car.

Currently being built under the guidance of modding master Patrik Marek (of the Nissan Primera BTCC Supertouring fame), the 911 GTA / GT3 Cup car already looks like a sim racing masterpiece in the making. Due as part of the much anticipated IER Modding Group Tudor World Sportscar modification, progress is already well advanced on the car model and interior, with physics to be added by McLarenF1papa at a later date. This should prove to be an epic addition to the sim.

Modek has shared early Work In Progress images from his upcoming BMW M3 E36 road car project in the RaceDepartment Modding Discussion forum, and it certainly looks like a promising project is underway. The M3 E36 is of course rear wheel drive and powered by either a 2990 cc, 3152 cc or 3201 cc engine with advanced chassis advances curtesy of input from BMW's M-Sport tuning arm. Judging by the current shots of the car, Modek's M3 is still at an early stage of development but progress will be interesting to follow as work progresses.

Ideal for small low power cars, Circuit Mas du Clos is already a top addition to the sim.

With 26 work pit boxes, TV cameras and working AI, this is a very well polished version of the track despite its version 0.9 status. Fun track to drive, progress should be watched with interest for future releases.

Following the shock closure of the official Assetto Corsa modding forums and subsequent community outcry we at RaceDepartment have created a new Assetto Corsa Modding Discussion forum, a location where community members can share progress on the latest mod creations, download new content and interact and ask questions about the world of mod creation in Assetto Corsa. Check out the Assetto Corsa Modding Forum for details and take a look at our general Assetto Corsa forum where you will find all the latest news items and community discussion topics.

Please can I take this opportunity to ask you, the community, to help improve other users experiences when downloading a mod at RaceDepartment? If you download a mod here at RD please consider testing and taking the time to leave a rating and comment so the author and other community members can see opinions on how each mod is developing. Just 5 minutes of your time for each download you make can go a long way towards helping others make informed decisions and helps add to the general awesomeness that is the RaceDepartment mods section! Thank you...

RaceDepartment hold regular club racing events in Assetto Corsa using a variety of content found in game. Check out the AC Racing Club for details and how to join in the action.

Curious how the Miata got added to this list?

It was actually last updated july 15th 2015... so, over a year ago...

It was speculated that Kunos bought this mod, which is why we havent seen any updates since last year. Since they will be supposedly releasing it for free in the coming months.

Nice write up as always @Paul Jeffrey

With all the talk about head protection in F1 cars I always thought a design approach like that used on the fantasy Red Bull car was the right mix of looks good and will do the job, probably will never happen though

The GT3 Porsche interests me as well, another GT3 class car that almost makes the Blancpain Grid complete :)

Very well written @Paul Jeffrey. Always look forward to the mod roundups - helps me keep my finger on the pulse of what's going on with the modding community without having to monitor the forums all the time (I do enough of that as it is lol).

If there's anything I would improve, it would be adding a JSON api for mod downloads. Could be very useful for apps like Content Manager.

Thanks again!
