SIm Racing realism (lap time - wise)

Guys, just want to read you opinion about the general realism of our beloved sims - a thing I think about now for quite some time. Reason is the ongoing discussion on "Sim A's physics are better than B's".

Imagine you can do lap times around 3:58 on LeMans in your favorite sim in a GTE. How realistic would it be to assume you can do a similar lap time in a real GTE (not that we can try it, anyway:))
My point of view: No way. At least I would be completely overwhelmed with this task and I guess would be more than happy to get out alive.
Reasons why I think so:
- If playing a sim would be enough of a training, then everybody could drive a high performance race car
- In reality we would be a lot more cautious. Whatever realism VR may bring, everybody knows & feels it's not the real thing.
- The real G-forces would test our overall fitness (at least mine:)) - I guess those forces would at least "distract me". Same goes for vibrations etc.

If I would be right with my assumptions above, a sim's physic's "realism" would be a lot overestimated.
What's your opinion?

I say modern sim racing is to real racing as the old "Pole Position" is to sim racing, but worse. Compared to being in an actual cockpit on an actual track, sim racing is not "realistic" at all. But it can still be "accurate" in terms of track times, etc., and it can still be fun.
