I'm in please
Yep, I've the arms switched off so only see the virtual wheel. I'm sure you're all on different wheels, but generally do you set the wheel rotation to the maximum of your wheel (900 degrees in my case)? I see in the car settings there is also a steering lock setting that seems to have a fairly dramatic effect. Anyway, I'll have a play about and see if I can figure it out, and if not I'll ask a few more questions in the main R3E section!
Have you got the profiler running?
R3E needs it for some reason.
I have my wheel at 900 and only need to vary the steering lock on any individual car by +/- 1 or 2 normally.
In the profiler, set your wheel to 900 degrees. In Vehicle Settings, set Steering Animation to "Match Setup". The game will automatically set your rotation to whatever the car has in real life, and the virtual wheel will match the rotation of your real wheel exactly. Then you can use the steering lock setting in each car's setup menu to tweak to your liking.
Yep, the profiler is running and seems to be set correctly so all good from that perspective. It sounds like the “Match Setup” option is exactly what I’m looking for so I’ll try that next! If that all goes to plan is it best to leave the Steering Settings in the Car Setup at the default 540 or to also set this to 900? Thanks for all your help so far, really appreciate it!
The rotation in the steering settings is actually car-dependant. Eg, if you jump in the F1 cars it will be much lower, some cars are higher, etc. What you set it to is down to personal preference. Some people lower it because they feel it gives more precise control of the car. (It can substantially increase tire wear as a side-affect though.) Personally, I leave it at whatever the default is for the car.
That makes sense Ross! I’ll do a bit of experimenting but I’m all for “defaults”.. I’d much rather spend my time driving than tweaking values in text boxes
Just a quick note to say thanks for all your help yesterday evening. I finally got to try out some of the suggested settings this evening and sure enough "Match Setup" was exactly what I was looking for. However, it looks like I had everything set correctly but the steering in the "Cougar C14-2" seems a bit out of whack! When I jump into the "Canhard R51" it's perfect, and I also tried out the McLaren 650S and it was also perfect. I'm guessing it's just an animation issue with that car if that's possible. Anyway, I'm pretty happy now I understand it better so thanks once again
Server is up.
Unfortunately I'll not be able to make it tomorrow evening, but I'm still on for Sunday so I shall catch you all then!
