This event
  • Server will be up, close to or at 18:00 GMT.
  • Booking starts at 18:00 GMT.
  • Sign up window closes at 17:30 GMT sharp.
  • Sign out before 17:30 GMT, if you don't know for certain you can participate in this event or can't book in time.
  • Passwords are sent via private message before or at 18:00 GMT.
  • Penalties will be enabled during this event.
  • Time of day will be set at 14:00h for Qualifying.
  • No changing grip levels set on server.
  • Set your surface in the race options to 'Optimum'.
  • Standing Start for the race.
  • This event has a minimal number of 5 participants to take place.
  • This track can hold 24 cars, because of the high LOD (Level of Detail) of this particular car however, the maximum number of participants will be set to 15.
  • In case of significantly more sign ups, a second server will be made available.
In general
  • Make a new post for a better overview, if you do need to sign out.
  • It is strongly encouraged to be present in teamspeak, as this serves a multitude of objectives: a place to be on the same page during the event and to pick up important information, if needed - to inform drivers they are about to be lapped during the race - and to simply converse with one another and to build a sense of community.
  • If you don't want to be disturbed during a qualifying lap, you may turn off your mic/headphones, albeit please remember to enable them again afterwards - especially before the race starts. You will have plenty of time to do so in the transition between the Qually and Race session.
  • To ensure a level playing field, set the ambient temperature to the default 26°C, enable fuel consumption, enable tyre wear and disable mechanical damage in the configuration windows - example.
  • Check & load up your Race-setup after Qualifying, if you have one and choose a suitable tyre type & fuel load for the race.
  • In order to limit the display of plane white car liveries during our races, please click here - rules are included.
  • If you just want to inform youself about car setups or you are truly ambitious it, I got you covered as well: click here.
  • If anything goes wrong with the server, please leave here a message immediately.
  • Our racing clubs are foremost meant to gain online experience, so please help other drivers out when they have questions about the event, car, track, setup or a particular combination. This is not a league race, it's not about who wins, it is meant to be fun.

Tips and Tricks section
(comprised of factual information and personal racing experience)

This car
  • click here for a submitted setup for the Shelby Cobra S1 at this track.
  • click here for a submitted setup for the Shelby Cobra S1 at Blackwood.
  • click here to read through the discussion in the download area of this car.
  • The main difference between the S1 and S/C version are the number of gears - 5 for the former and 4 for the latter. Other than that, they should be equal.
  • These cars are modelled after their counterparts in full glory metal - soft suspension, a heavy front, a light rear, massive power & torque, prone to oversteer in almost every situation.
  • To get through the race safely, you have to adress the following three issues by 'better driving' or through setup changes or through both: braking stability (or lack thereof), the (too) soft suspension and the (humongous) oversteer.
  • To do that, either apply all steering, braking and acceleration very gently and/or work primarily with the braking- and acceleration differential, harder springs & dampers, the toe and more front brake bias. Look up my setup guide linked in the OP for further information.
  • Drive this car more like a 'dragster' than a high grip sports car -> aim & shoot.
  • Pick the 'Vintage Racing' tyres for the most grip.
  • Tyre wear and tyre degradation is of no concern.
This track
  • Laguna Seca is the world famous mid-sized, mid-speed circuit in sunny California.
  • Mostly famous for one particular corner, but we will look here at all corners (consult the map).
  • You don't have to drive down the narrow pit exit up to T2. Look at the map and go onto the track right away, if you come out of the pits.
  • Good and (if done right) fruitful overtaking opportunites are Turns 2, 3, 5, 10, 11.
  • Try not to attempt overtaking maneuvers in Turns 4, 6, 7-9. They will mostly end in tears.
  • Generally, brake early and carry speed to the next corner.
  • Use stationary objects on the side for brake markers.
  • Get a 'sense of urgency' - put your foot down, if you think you can and if you have trust in your car.
  • You should get into a rhythm quickly and follow the track almost unconsciously.
  • T1: lift off gently to avoid lift of oversteer coming over the crest just after the star/finish-line (only with the Cobra)
  • T2: 2 Apexes 1 corner - the safe way is to brake early and to hit both apexes - the 0.2 to 0.4s (with the Cobra) faster way is to brake late & hard into the middle, rotate the car slowly and give it the beans afterwards
  • T3: simple one
  • T4: simple again, but faster
  • T5: brake early, use the banking for a slingshot
  • T6: blind one - brake earlier than you want to and hit the apex precisely
  • T7/T8/T8A - The corkscrew complex, here we go:
  • Drive at the left side of the road or in the middle, not at the right
  • Aim diagonally across the road to the right
  • Brake before the crest at T7
  • Let go of the brake, stabilise the car, aim for the small curb on the right
  • Brake again, now you see T8
  • If you turn into T8 from the right hand side, congratulations, if you do from the middle of the road, thats ok, if you do from the left side, not so much
  • Turn in, aim for the curbs and let yourself drop, accelerate early - you can loose a lot of time here
  • Sway the car firmly from the exit of T8A to the middle or the outside of the road
  • Hold off turn in
  • Let go of the throttle, no brakes, weight-transfer to the front, then turn in and hit the inside and then the outside curb of T9 precisely
  • Swing quickly to the left, brake early for T10 and use the banking for a slingshot again
  • Definition: "The most important corner of a track, is the one that leads onto the longest straight."
  • T11: rather simple - turn in steadily and accelerate early
  • And this was a lap of the famous Laguna Seca. Que applause.
In general
  • A turn is defined by a 'Change in direction'.
  • Be sure to practice race starts with cold tyres to get a clean and fast getaway from the grid - this is also a safety issue to avoid spins and accidents right after the lights go out.
  • You may also share your setups with a short description in the 'Assetto Corsa Setups' forum.
  • Be careful during overtaking and give your fellow drivers enough room to maneuver.
  • Make sure you are sufficiently far alongside the car you want to overtake before committing to a move. Additionally, be sure your fellow driver sees you and is aware/can sense/can predict where you are /where you will be in the next couple of seconds. This will massively reduce unnecessary contact and clumsy accidents.
  • The virtual rear mirror (press F11), the red triangles at the corners of your screen pointing at a close car and a regular look back (map a button) will help you with that.

Hope this won't affect the race. I'm having rather old setup with i7 2600@3.4, Gigabyte 570GTX and 16GB, if the load will be to big, i'll just go into pits after start and watch 3rd person.

You should be fine. Multiplayer CPU load is much less than against the AI. It's all the AI behaviour that hogs the CPU rather than the graphics of the cars

Turn post-processing effects off though if you want to maximise your frame rate. The PPE can almost cut FPS in half sometimes

Your CPU load doing a race with AI cars is not the same as doing one with the same number of MP drivers. AC uses up one CPU thread to calculate the AI behavior. This falls aside in MP. If anything, your FPS should be limited by the GPU.

Edit:
Got :ninja: 'd by Olly ;)
