I applied this set up and was able to run 1:34 in the time trial mode with the Sauber (my current career car, figured it would be the best comparison to run)
I know tires/fuel etc but the race handling was pretty similar so all in all a good setup.
I was confused about the stiffness of the springs as well as roll bars simply because the default "FAST" setup has a very soft anti-roll bar up front and based on the descriptions, I think well, the softer the better the traction, so perhaps I can balance it with stiffer springs.. or perhaps i need a stronger anti-roll and softer springs... who knows.
Here are a couple of issues I have at this track:
The first turn works pretty good, I enter at about 5th gear and gently downshift letting the natural deceleration occur, goose it for the quick straight and then ease through the next complex where I get fairly good time on. I also have a pretty good entry/exit on 6 most of the time and build up speed for turn 7 where I immediately lose a lot of ground because I have poor grip, I have to keep it in 5th at around 12k RPM through that corner otherwise I run wide and will have a bad entry into 8. All of these setups use low aero settings, but it turns out I was also using less negative camber than the setup here, around 1.20- F and 2.8R with .8 toe out and .29 rear toe out.
I read each variation of this track's setup and noticed a few are using quite high camber values with low toe out so my question is, am I running insufficient negative camber or do I just need more aero, or am I just trying to take that corner too fast?
Lastly, the hairpin. I've tried unsuccessfuly to emulate the braking distance i've seen from actual f1 onboard cameras, which is strange because the brake distance is almost twice as much in game and I've seen in certain examples, drivers braking within 75 meters but they also don't hit 208 MPH top speed, according to mark weber, he was hitting about 195 i think, so perhaps I need more downforce which would limit my top speed but help in that turn 7 issue.
I also noticed that the drivers tend to go no lower than 2nd gear. As I'm braking, if I go to first gear the tires lock and I'm screwed, so i usually brake about 150 meters, gently downshift to 2nd and hit the apex, but while i do that, other cars are catching up to me because I've had to brake so far away, yet during the turn 11-12 complex, I smoke them!
What have you guys done to maximize your performance in these areas? they cause a lot of grief and I often go off track or lose a lot of ground and it kills my race.
Brake settings:
R 52%, high pressure
(tried many variations of brake bias and ballast but cant find anything that works really well)
Aero Settings:
F 6
R 2
Rest as OP's setup or as indicated above (alignment)
