SEASON 9 RACE 4 - Preperation thread

I tried playing with caster after your explanation Kennett and did a few laps online using Reiks set up (thanks Reik) with caster at -1.5 wings 9/50 rear arb 20 and got my PB down to 1:32 with 22 mins stint fuel and soft tyres. It still feels stable but does turn in a lot better.

Nico, I wasn't trying to be awkward, just explaining how I do the majority of my practice, I will still go online so you can see my times come tumbling down (not, basically staying around the same).

The laptimes on Presto scared me a bit, but have put in 4 hours solid practice today and feel more comfortable now.

Well, the practice (session) server will not display your times, but regardless of that I think one should be online. I cannot force anyone, but the idea is to create enough traffic on our servers to make it worth while driving online. I think people will be more optimistic about your preperations if they can see a lap time that improves during the 14 days than nothing.
.

Agree Nico, I always do my preperation online hoping someone will turn up but i rarely meet anyone there, except for sunday evening, it is absolutly more fun and more rewarding practicing with others  ...

But the main point is,
More caster = straight line stability, heavy steering (you are actually lifting the car with your steering wheel),more tire wear, auto-stability
Less caster = cornering, light steering, less tire wear, restless
.

Thanks Kennet for explaning it, you are a genius , it was nice to read all about it but that is how much my Chef brain did understand the :cautious::rolleyes::geek::O_o::unsure: :speechless: CASTER philosophy :) ..( just kidding)...., but those 2 lines is the essence of your writing and exactly what i really want to know about the CASTER, thanks a lot..

Our track is scaled wrong compared to real life. I'm 13s faster than this years pole, usually it's only 5s or less. It's quite easy to see, just watched qualy and our track is shorter, narrower, has curbs and walls in wrong places, last corner is totally different... Not to say that this track is crap, it's just differs from real life. I have a different version in my archives, i'll check if that is more realistic for future seasons...That could explain why i didn't remember this track even when i've driven here before in F1...Last two F1 seasons i've driven the current track during the race weekend and specially when it was a track that was new to me.. But i could just have remembered it wrong or driven with lower class formulas.

First I have to apologize, my interpreter studies have started last week and its so much stuff to learn.
Let me suggest Nico that I'll try to prepare untill the race (on the servers) if I find the time and if its not enough to be 100% safe then I wont join the race.

Secondly I think this is a great statistics and grats to Valter for being the practising champion!
