Screen freezes in VR... Please help!

Hi guys, just a poor bugger in desperate need of some help here.

I've had my VR headset (Oculus Rift non-S) since November and the thing has worked a dream for all my sim titles. However, over the past few weeks, all my Steam-based games have been getting ridiculous screen freezes of up to 10 seconds long as often as 3-4 times a minute. Before, I could run AC with all the settings on medium or high and get a solid 60 fps but now I basically can't use it. I can still run it on a single monitor with everything maxed out with over 90fps.
Also, iRacing works just as well as it ever has in VR so I doubt it's my headset that's on its last legs.

If anyone has any idea what the problem could be or experience with this issue, I'd love the help. Missing my favourite sim right now!
Thanks in advance.

AV running in the background? Is Windows updating itself, maybe? Has Windows recently updated? If so, could you try a system restore?

I had a similar issue, admittedly only freezing for 1-2 seconds, and it turned out to be Adobe Acrobat updating itself.

You say this is happening with all your steam games so I think it's not an AC issue.

Check Steam forums/groups for any mentions of VR instability. From time to time I've seen Steam updates muck up frame rates.

Also, see if you can find any issues with the version of gfx card driver. Sometimes you need update to the latest, sometimes latest and greatest brings new issues and you want to roll back to something a few points behind and more stable.

Can't tell you specifically but those are the trees I'd be barking up given what you've reported.

hth.
