Saving offline championship weekend races?

Okay, so twice I've run race 1 of a weekend and had to leave the sim. When I come back to finish race 2 it turns out that I have to actually run race 1again. Is there a way to actually save race 1's results. Exit the sim and come back and Continue on to race 2?

You have to save during the race, so if you've completed race 1, you have to start race 2 and save after the green flag.

Yes, pretty horrible design, I know.

Not sure why controls being locked is relevant to this?

I'd just read this(control lockup) when people saved races while in the pits. Ho3n3r. I just didn't want to take anything for granted. I'm sure it seems silly that the controls would lockup on a sim while on track. Having been sim racing since GPL, I've seen some funny things/bugs happen and was just curious if that had or could happen.
