Special remarks: My Q time here in an online race several months ago was 1:23 flat. If I remember correctly there were quite a few cars on fire during the race...unforgiving if you get it wrong.

The late track change made this event a bit more challenging. I know Dijon, but have never driven there with the F3000, so the first task was to figure out a good wing setting beside getting used to the track. After I learned that I have to be patient around the tight corners and not to step on the throttle too soon (had relatively low wing), I managed to make good laptimes.

Quali became an enthralling duel with Thierry. We switched positions a few times and were often only hundredths apart. We pushed each other during the whole session and I was the lucky one getting pole.

Before the race I had no real idea if 1 or 2 stops should be made, but my feeling said that 1 might be the better choice. I thought about the difference between going down the straight with 270 km/h or with the pit limiter active. That alone worried me enough (and the bad reminiscence of Interlagos).

Had a not so good start and Thierry got the lead. He was constantly building up a gap, so I expected him to be on 2 stops. After aprox. 20 min Thierry entered the pits and came out again directly in front of me after I was round the track once more. After my pitstop I reentered the track again some seconds behind Thierry, so we kept kind of contact throughout most of the race. After his second pit stop I had a comfortable lead with 15 minutes to go. I kept pushing, trying to beat my fastes race lap so far and to compare myself to Thierry with equal fuel load. As expected we had the same speed. The gap fluctuated not more than a second for 10 minutes, until I overdid it an spun, so the final result was mainly a consequence of the strategy. I am courious what will be the best next time ...

I will not make practice, but hope to be there just as qual begins. FYI

btw, 1.33,5 and LOTS of room to improve sounds scary. Mid-field for me then...

Not wishing to accuse anyone of anything as there are some seriously fast guys out there ... but ... times can and do also depend heavily on what you consider as cutting ... the track itself does not seem so strict on cutting in certain seemingly critical places.

A little bit of well timed grass cutting at the right corner(s) can gain a decent chunk of time ...

My best time in practice mode on the server last night with a race setup and ~10 laps of fuel on board was 1:34.8 ... and not a blade of grass was harmed :p

Am praying I can get that sort of pace going again tonight, and maybe even shave a few tenths of it with the extra grip levels quali sometimes has on offer??
