The bizarre tale of Rich Energy has taken another unexpected twist today, with news that the company is under new ownership, a new name and no longer associated with the bearded one...
Yes you heard it right, the sometimes controversial and often hilarious episodes of Rich Energy have taken another twist today, with William Storey, the founder of the brand and the man most prominently associated with the energy drink manufacturer having exited the company, leading to the Haas F1 sponsor rebranding as Lightning Volt and moving to new ownership.
According to Companies House documents, it appears that the Rich Energy brand is no more, with new directors, ownership and business address listed against the company - as well as a rebranding to Lightning Volt - but where this leaves the title sponsorship deal with the American Haas F1 team remains to be seen.
In something of an interesting and rather confusing move, outgoing Rich Energy founder Storey headed to social media to announce he has sold his majority stake in the brand to a 'third party' - complete with a photograph of story alongside former Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone....
How strange is all this then? Looks like the saga of the Rich Energy / Lightening Volt / Haas F1 story has a little bit longer to run...
