I feel a bit sorry for him RIccardo, but I think this is the best he could salvage from a bad position.

Seems he was overlooked by Ferrari due to a perception that he'd be expensive and too close in pace to Leclerc. Sad that so few front running teams genuinely target the best two drivers they can get for fear of them clashing. History says they are probably right to be worried about evenly matched drivers clashing but I can't help but really dislike this aspect of F1 as it's precisely the opposite of fans want to see.

However, I don't think Sainz will just roll over either (he was a match for Verstappen when they were teammates) so should still be good to watch. Just feels like Ricciardo deserved another chance in a race-winning team as a combination of horrendously bad luck with reliability and Helmut Marko making it abundantly clear that Max was the favourite son meant he didn't quite get a fair crack with Red Bell.
