rFactor and Vista x64

I'm thinking of upgrading to Vista x64, but I don't want to do it if rFactor doesn't work properly.

I have a Dual Core processor (2 x 3.2Ghz) with 4Gb of RAM - is there anybody else who runs rFactor in the 64-bit version of Vista? If so what has it been like? Also what's the performance like? Any teething troubles?

My other considerations if it works OK, is going to be the hardware I have - like my trusty Saitek R660 - which I'll research after this.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I installed Vista x64 last night and so far so good. I have noticed an anomaly, where the track almost jumps a tiny bit as I'm driving.. Not all the time - probably 3 times in a lap, and normally in the same place (Adelaide with the BMW M3 GTR Cup mod). :pissed-off:

I've updated all of my drivers now, so hopefully it's gone - although I won't find out until I get home and have a test..

Yeh I doubt that's related to windows. Hope you enjoy vista x64. I love it :D

Paul you can also try to make a dual boot system and compare the 32 bit and 64 bit version. Check if you see the bumping also on the 32 bit version.

After you are confident with 64 bit you can easily remove the 32 bit version.

Be aware if you do this to install the second OS on another partition or another physical harddrive.

You can use Vistabootpro to manage the dualboot easily.

Thanks for the reply, Marcel.

Truth be told, if I wasn't so impatient I would probably have done that - but I've already made the plunge and I'm liking the 64 bit OS - it's good to have all 4 gigs available for one, and it almost seems more responsive too..

I did have an issue with my NVidia GFX card to start with - there is a thread on RD detailing it more, where it dies mid race, recovers and either spits you back to the desktop, or you continue on track (with eveyone else racing away into the distance!)

Anyway, I found that by downgrading the drivers to 175.16 it solved the problem - not had it since - touch wood..
