Studio 397 have been busy - three new Nürburgring layouts, Reiza Pack Updates, New Porsche 991 GT3 Cup 'Endurance' update and more are here!

Yes, owners of the legend that is the rFactor 2 Nürburgring Nordschleife DLC have some more fun to look forward to the next time they fire up rFactor 2... the previously promised three additional layouts have been added to the pack - bringing the total number of combinations up to seven in total as the 'Sprint', 'Sprint no Chicane' and 'Endurance' layouts arrive to the simulation.

With the free update (for existing DLC owners) headlining the day for Studio 397, we also get a few more goodies to enjoy as well. When Nordschleife released back in late September, the little Porsche 911 GT3 Cup also made an appearance, and now the developers have given the car an altogether more aggressive update - adding an 'Endurance' specification to the machine that "consists of different dampers and 2 sets of softer springs, compared to the Supercup specification. The Endurance package also comes with ABS system and aerodynamic package: front fender flares + rear wing 10 mm gurney flap and restricts the engine power output to a nominal 413 PS. Additionally the Endurance package also comes with a possibility to refuel the car, with fuel tank capacity lowered to 95 L, compared to 100 L with the Supercup specification. The car also weighs 30 kg more" - oh and two new liveries as well.

On the content front, the popular 'Reiza Pack' DLC has also received some love, with a new build releasing for this awesome pack that adds fixes and improvements to a number of the cars and the Imola circuit;

Imola:
  • Fixed various reported wall collision issues and holes in 1988 & 2001 versions.
Metalmoro AJR:
  • Adjusted aero pitch & yaw sensitivity;
  • Slightly downgraded Judd V10 performance to better match that of other engine variants;
  • Added turbo model to AJR Honda Turbo variant.
Metalmoro MR18:
  • Added turbo model;
  • Adjusted aero pitch & yaw sensitivity.
MCR 2000:
  • Adjusted aero pitch & yaw sensitivity;
  • Slight graphical height correction.

Back in the land of official Studio 397 content, a golden oldie makes a bid for the limelight with the wonderful Nissan GT500 receiving the new shaders and materials update treatment - hopefully breathing fresh life into a car that brings the criminally under represented Japanese GT500 series into sim racing as official content;

Nissan GT500 v2.01
  • Updated to new materials
  • Adjusted the windows in and out GMT so it can be skinned
  • Rim LODs fixed smoothing groups
  • Adjusted smoothing groups for all tire LODs
  • Added proper icons
  • Updated Templates

Last and probably least is a very, very minor fix to the Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Not as exciting as the previously mentioned updates, this move to v1.05 is just a minor fix to show proper GTE badge on steering wheel - but any little improvement is always welcomed!

Happy days for rF2 fans.

rFactor 2 is available exclusively for PC.

Sim Racing is AWESOME!

Haven't boarded the RF2 train "yet". I know I'm very late but there's something I can never get my head around .... When I fire up the SIM with all the graphics maxed out it looks rather terrible but then I see these screenshots ... Am I missing something ?

It is not the screenshots. But the physics where Rfactor2 is stronger in all areas. Give it a try. I really like the cup car

Hi all
Has anyone noticed that when you select the VLN speck GT3 cup car, the AI are a lost faster than your car on the straights?
Or am I missing something in the set up?
Thanks in advance if you can help
Bob
I had the same issue. Driving on the long straight at Le Mans, the cars drove away from me. However, after I used a ‘forced setup’ in the tuning menu (where you select one of two Endurance setups), I could keep up with the AI on the straight. I was on 90% AI though. I think, these Endurance setups are not automatically activated on circuits like Le Mans. I also tested the car in the standard Cup setup and it was about 20 km/h faster on the straights.

Correct, this is the fix. When you want the AI to use your specification, you have to force it for the respective combination.^^

Tbh, i don't understand why that Nissan GT500 doesn't get a physics update. I guess i am the only one that thinks it is terrible. It feels more like i am driving a gokart.
I like it’s physics. Few weeks ago raced it and the way tires lose grip feels natural. Although they are not latest CPM as GT3 or GTE. No one here raced it IRL so it’s all about subjective feeling.

How did you find out? Source? The Nord is the best on the sim market. So don't share that opinion
At my monitor using my eyes+at s397 forum in bug reports(fresh and old but still not fixed visual bugs) . And i am talking about cars mostly.
Nords still have issues too: i can see textures under textures at turn 3 for example. And Nurb gp is not the best at the market. Yo can find my post with side by side comparison with acc here at rd.

Please, S397, don't change the physics of this car. rF2 needs at least some cars that are still fun to drive for more than three laps at a time.

Imagine it would be as horrible to drive as those awful post-BoP GTEs...
I shed tears everytime I try to drive the M8 anymore.....s397 completely ruined that car and the C7. With the upcoming GT3 BoP, if they screw up the rear suspension of the GT3 cars too I'll be done for good with rFactor2, seriously.

@j_troc_71 Can't say I'm shedding tears, because I never was a huge fan of that car, but I am at a point where I literally have to force myself to drive the M8 in particular.

I obviously have no idea if the way the GTEs currently are is realistic, but regardless, they are absolutely horrible to drive (disclaimer: for me), with the M8 probably being worse of them (not that the others are particularly better, except maybe the Porsche).
