Refueling/pit stop problem.

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having. I am racing with World Endurance series cars in the LMP2 division. I want to do long endurance races, so as a result I would like to be able to have AI drivers do stints in addition to having to drive myself. The problem I'm having is that when Driver 2 is driving under AI control he comes in to the pits to refuel, but never gets any fuel. Instead the car just sits there and never rejoins the race. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how I might fix this problem? Thank you very much for any info that can be provided.

I can't remember for sure but I think is another known problem with AI? Try searching the forums for "fueling", maybe try searching EEC, and websearch, as well.

I don't think there's a solution.

It has to do with bad engine values, and especially the very first lines from 0 to 750 rpm.
Open m3gtr.eng file with notepad, copy the 4 first lines (0-250-500-750 rpm values), then open your broken car ENG file to replace the same lines and save. Now check in game and car should be able to refuel.

Thank you very much for the replies. I was able to trace the problem to the track I was using to test my cars on. It was an older version of Watkins Glen. I believe the problem was contained in the track AIW file. I replaced the track with a newer version and all of the cars now refuel as they should. I have tested them on several other tracks as well with no problems. Thanks again for getting back to me on this.

The problem appears to have returned. The strange thing is I have made no changes to the game. No cars or tracks added, and no changes to settings, but now the bug is back. At this point I am at a loss as to what the problem might be. It happens to some cars but not to others, but now it is happening on ALL tracks. The AI pulls the car into the pits, the engine shuts off, and never refires. The pit crew just stands there and eventually the car drops out of the race and gets a DNF. It's a shame because this game could be an awesome platform for simming multi class endurance races, but this bug makes it completely impossible to do so. I am at wits end once again and don't even know where to check to fix this. I have tried copying and pasting the first few lines in the .eng file but that makes no difference. If anyone more knowledgeable than me would be willing to possibly try one of the cars I'm using to see if you can replicate and figure out the error it would be greatly appreciated. Any other ideas would also be appreciated.

After the AI engine stop ... is it refueled ? and just cannot restart the engine ?
Should there be something in the plr file for that ? ....

Is there a line with a automatic starter active or unactive ? ... I cannot remember
Maybe you might have a look there.

EDIT: In fact, I'll ask rather someone who should me more used to this ... as he's busy with engines and car physics in GTR2.
There's maybe something else than what I mentioned here.
More as soon as I'll have his answer.

Just an idea looking at the plr file:

[ DRIVING AIDS ]
Steering Help="1"
Steering Help Functionality="1" // 0 = new help, 1 = new help + grip, 2 = original, 3 = original + grip
Throttle Control="2"
Brake Help="1"
Antilock Brakes="2"
Spin Recovery="0"
Invulnerability="1"
Autopit="1"
Opposite Lock="0"
Stability Control="1"
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car (except autopit)

Should this Autopit="1" in your plr not rather be on Autopit="0" ?

Maybe worth a try if it's on 0 !

NB in game the option for personal autopit is not checked ... but anyway that's on 1 in the plr
Reason why I might be correct for the suggestion above. ;)
or wrong ? :roflmao:

Thank you very much for the reply. I will certainly give your suggestions a try. Also thank you for checking with this other individual to get his input. I truly hope I can get this working because the set of cars is very cool. Its the world endurance series mod with some other cars I modded in. That could be part of the problem as I may not have done that correctly, but I have no idea what I may have done wrong.

Just a last question before I ask:
Is it especially the car you drive ... passed in the "hands" of the AI driver having this pit refueling problem

or/and also that same car, not driven by you and AI as 2nd driver, but as concurrent ... shows this same problem ? ..........

What was mentioned earlier for the engine's 3 lines is of course correct else the car cannot stop the engine for refueling ... now it rather seems the car cannot restart this engine.

Not sure at all it may be solved as I already saw this problem asked different times ... but maybe the answer was only at NG ... now disappeared.

Yes, that is when the problem is occurring. I used driver2 controlled by the AI to do a lot of testing when I'm modding. When the AI driver2 comes into the pits that is when the car won't restart and gets a DNF. It seems to only happen with P2 cars from the World Endurance Series. I have other cars that can be driven in by AI driver 2 and will restart, but when I try it with these P2 they always fail to restart. Thank you again for trying to help me outs. IT is most appreciated.

Now with more explanations I'll ask our engine specialist ... as the reason might come from the .eng file. ... maybe a wrong value somewhere.

Message sent ... and I even gave him the link for this thread. ;)

Hi Braddw25,

Jempy told me about your problem(s). If possible, please send me the car and needed files or at the minimum, eng and hdc. It would be much easier with the entire car so as to test in game but not mandatory for sure. Just better than going back and forth with try this now try that now try...

Cheers!

Phil (hmmguy)

Thank you very much for the offer to help. I very much appreciate it. I have the car and associated files zipped into a .rar file and ready to send. What would be the best way to send it to you? Thanks again for the help.

Yes Phil ... the name is not Private Message but well Conversation. ;)
