Recommend CPU upgrade for ACC please

Currently struggling to run ACC without freezing momentarily and juddering, changing graphics settings has little effect so I'm looking at a CPU and motherboard upgrade.

In MSI Afterburner my cpu is maxxed out at 100%

I've currently got an i5 6600K and a GTX 1080 graphics card playing on a 3440x1440 monitor.

Any advice on what to got for in the region of £400 for cpu and mb that will handle ACC ok?

Literally no other sims in my collection give me any problems.

I understand that ACC (unlike AC) is able to - and would appear to need to - exercise more than 4 cores/threads so the 6600K is probably not quite up to the job. A cheapo secondhand 6700K or 7700K might be a cheap way to delay a major upgrade. (7700K may need a BIOS update, or just might plain not work at all on your mobo so best to check.)
On a really quick squint on ebay, I saw used 6700K pricing around £140 (reputable vendor).

5600x + b550 mobo or i5 11400/12400 + b560/b660.
If you have more money: 12600k + z690.

Best bang for the buck CPUs!
I personally would go with the amd 5600x + msi b550 gaming plug.
Have 4 friends with that build and all are super happy!

That 140 pounds is $250 aud! i say its wasted money and for $390 aud i can buy a 11400/B560 (6 core, 12 thread) combo and get a far better experience that a very aged 6700k that wont give you much life before needing to upgrade again.

Yeah, fair point there gents. Somewhat more cash up front, and it's a lot more hassle to upgrade mobo as well of course (plus all the associated software mucking about, if you can avoid a complete OS reinstall), but also much better bang per buck indeed.

Somewhat more cash up front,
I only mentioned the 11400/b560 at $390 as you said you had 400 pounds to spend. On your older platform you are limited to 6700/7700k upgrade path. Will give you some gains but not much I'm afraid. Quite limited settings increase and possibly a few Ai more to race. I'm sure you will be spending more again in the not to distant future.

What memory are you using with the 6600K, as that might effect your choice of cpu/budget.
