RDLMS Season 4 Announcement

This is Man vs Machine vs Time. It’s a spectacle that cannot be matched. It’s a test of concentration and skill. It asks you questions, physically and mentally. It’s lap, after lap of fighting against yourself and your opposition. It’s big wins. It’s big losses. It’s giving all you have for the team. It’s sim racing’s greatest challenge. It’s Race Department’s Le Mans Series, and it’s back.

There is something magical about endurance racing. It captures our imagination. Powerful and futuristic prototypes share the track with beautiful GT cars, and it’s arguably the greatest spectacle in motorsport. The Daytona 24 Hour, Sebring 12 Hour, and the Le Mans 24 Hour are all among the most anticipated events in the world motorsport calendar. We are amazed at the ability of drivers to push the car for hours on end. We are in awe of the manufacturing of vehicles which are able to perform almost faultlessly for 24 hours. Our captivation in real endurance racing also shared in a simulated format. The RDLMS is a driver favorite on RaceDepartment, and it isn’t difficult to understand why. It’s our chance to emulate the extraordinary efforts of drivers such as Tom Kristensen and Frank Biela. It provides an opportunity to race in a dynamic environment through night and day, sunrise and sunset. It’s the pinnacle of online racing, an unmatchable experience for competitors and spectators alike.

While the RaceDepartment staff are busy putting the final touches on what promises to be a fantastic season, we can reveal that it will take place on the tried and tested rFactor 1 platform, which will be optimized to ensure the best racing experience for competitors. The series will comprise of 5 rounds, during which we will visit tracks in both North America and Europe. Race lengths will vary from 6 to 24 hours, so an enthusiastic and devoted driver line-up will be the key to success in this series. The eyes of the sim racing world will be firmly focused on the live broadcast set up for every event, and your friends and family can watch you navigate lap after lap of enthralling racing. Four different classes will share the track, including both Prototype and GT cars. The magic of endurance racing will be replicated as closely as possible.

Be sure to keep an eye on the front page and RDLMS League section of our forums for all of your essential news and announcements. We will reveal key dates and information concerning entry into the series shortly. Allan McNish once proclaimed with regards to endurance racing, “there are so many situations you encounter in a race that you just don’t get in testing”. Mario Andretti declared “prepare yourself in every way, so that you can make the most of an opportunity when it occurs”. It has been a long time, but the RaceDepartment team is working hard to prepare an unforgettable RDLMS season. It will be the best we have ever seen. The track is clear. The pit crews wait anxiously. The spectators hold their breath. The marshals are on standby. The Green Flag is poised. Ready?
